You don't want to do full body every day man, give your body some time to rest. Seriously man, check that link I posted.

Take a day off then, your muscles need time to rest. Muscles grow when at rest, not at the gym.

Ultimately, yes. 3 workouts per week is enough if you only want to grow the upper body. Just work each muscle group really hard, do your research, eat accordingly and get a diet high in protein and low in carbs and you can really bulk up.

Haha, I know so many guys that just concentrate on their biceps, the result is looking like you have massive tumours on your arms.

biceps, shoulders, and pecs are the main things I focus on... I don't think the abs will every reach full potential but I do a little work with them also

Do you do any deadlifts?

I use to... I start them every now and then but I'm not faithful to them... I did them hardcore back when I was playing basketball still though.. but now I'm not really worried about how strong my legs are

Deadlifts aren't just legs man, they work your back, arms, etc. Do heavy deadlifts once a week and if you're doing them right, you'll notice a lot more strength.

aka powercleans... thanks :) will start those today or tomorrow
post #49

Nah man, it looks like powercleans are half of deadlifts, but do em with a lot more weight and make sure your grip is different (your stronger arm facing outward).

19 September 2007, 20:05 UTC#50
ah well now that I look at it... the powercleans that we did, we had to squat down inthere somewhere... and it doesn't look like that guy does... and he prolly knows what he is doing seeing as how he is massive

those vids are awesome.. I see the difference now...

but I have another question... how do you get rid of love handles?... because I gottem
post #53

It all depends if you care more about putting on muscle or loosing fat, you wont be able to do both.

To lose fat, take in less calories and do lots of cardio. Make sure you still get lots of protein so you wont lose much muscle and take a multivitamin so you get all your essentials (take one even if you're trying to put on muscle).

I guess I'm just wanting to many things in a little period of time...

I'll just go with the muscle thing right now and work on the getting rid of fat later

nah dude... I wish he was my personal trainer... its not the info thats hard to get ahold of... its freakin makin myself go out and do it that is... I would definitely pay someone to make me work out haha

sorry, I guess its just because I haven't ever worked out for personal benefit... its always been because my coaches wanted me to in order to be able to perform better in athletic events.... now what is it for except to look good.. thats the only inspiration... I am no longer in any kind of competition...

and why look good... I have a fiancee.. why would I want to get fit?

just because I want to... and its hard to make yourself do something when you have very little backing you up.

Just get someone to work out with you, it's a lot easier to work out if you have someone else there to work out with you.

I was running an hour a day for a few weeks, then I hurt my foot and haven't since. I'm going to have to switch to biking soon.

My inspiration was new music. I'd find some to download, throw it on the Pod and wait to listen to it until my next run. It works for me.
