Ive read good reviews about Canon HV20 camcorder. Its hdv, cheaper than sonys hdv cams. Has equally good picture and better low light.

Any experiences you have? Any info in general? Should I get this or hc7?

The models is their latest cheap hdv cam. Lots of people on internet forums and lots of reviews have rated it over sonys HC7 and other cheap hdv´s.

Just wondering, what camera does Duran use?

Id wait till someone on here that has experience with cameras give you some advice before buying it. Keep in mind, my advice is pretty much useless.

Im probably going with this one. Ive seen lots reviews and comments that rate this over sony hc7. Other camera I was interested in.

hv20 doesnt have nighshot as it registered patent for sony. It tries to make up for it by having built in video light, and night mode with slow shutter speed. Not quite the nightvision Im used to, but its still great for low light. And with right adjustments the camera is great in low light, even without light or nightmode. I also plan to get an external light for it too.

But what makes it better than hc7? From reviews what I´ve read, better picture quality overall. Nice features, specially 24p and cine are praised. With those you can change framerate and colors in a way that makes it look film like. And pretty well too.

Built in video light is a nice touch. And for me, camcorder having av-in, for making my old vhs footage digital, is big bonus.

Why Im now planning to get this over good 3ccd? Its cheaper, smaller and should have equally good picture quality, because of big 1/2.7 cmos censor.

Oh, hv20 is also 300 euros cheaper than hc7 (at least in Finland).

that's some sexy ass footage. I wonder what compression settings they used when exporting the HD footage to upload onto YouTube?

edit// wow, only $600 roughly in America. why doesn't this add up for me? this cam has better quality than my DVC30 (it seems), and I payed more than half the price for it. fucking HD revolution...

Battery life is bad in every camera, thats why you get spare ones. Also if you want proper sound you need to buy external microphone anyway. There aint consumer camera that has a proper mic. For exemple hc7 has the same problems.

AND WHERE DO YOU GET THIS INFORMATION FROM? YOU POST SO MUCH WRONG INFORMATION! YOU SAY THAT HC3 HAS A MIC JAC, WHICH IT DOES NOT, AND BUNCH OF OTHER BULLSHIT. DO US A FAVOR AND DONT POST ANYTHING BEFORE YOU ARE SURE ABOUT IT.

CANON HV20 DOES HAVE ACCESORY SHOE, I`VE READ IT BUNCH OF TIMES AND EVEN SEEN IT IN YOUTUBE, WANT ME TO LINK IT FOR YOU?

well apparently we have been looking at diffrent shit because I have read more than once there is no accssiory shoe.

yes I would like a link.

EDIT: I was not "wrong" on the HC3 I got words mixed up, beetween a mic jack and hot shoe, thought they were implying that u could not put a mic on the camera. I am looking for the same shit u are, I am not trying to give u wrong shit but I post what I read.

Could you link me to something that says it doesnt have accesory shoe? I have read couple dozen reviews and none said that, infact all of them said that its good that it has it.

Here is link for review video that shows it:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=txa9J84_YKc

I´d appreciate that you make sure you know what you are talking about before posting, so you dont mix up hot shoe´s and mic jac´s. Because in terms of using the camera, its a big difference. With hot shoe you can only plug in few sonys models (only the ones compatible with hot shoe), but with mic jac there is lots of more options. And I dont know, but Im under expression that you can only use those interviewer type of microphones with mic jac. Also if you really want superior sound quality you shouldnt settle for anything less than XLR plug.

Yeah seems that the 24p would be complicated to capture and export. Lots of programs dont understand it, lots formats dont understand it, I dont understand it. Needs more research.

basicly every 4th frame isnt interlaced so it flickers on tvs. alot of people have this problem with no idea how to fix it. and me and vode both cant find how to also
