it's a love or hate type of movie. some will love it, and some will just hate it because it ends, and there's no steven spielberg happy ending or a total explanation to what happened. it's ingenious. nonetheless.

here's what everyone needs to read.. whether you saw it or not, liked it, hated it.. etc:

Yeah I agree that I can't take how there's no explanation afterwards. I wanted an explanation really bad. But I didn't get it cause the concept was just for the movie to be the tape that was recovered from the camera. I guess I kind of understand.

Here's another pretty close concept drawing I found:

At the end of the movie there is a small explanation that most people dont notice.

As they show the last little flashback from coney island, you can see what looks like a ufo falling into the water.

So either, it came from space, or something from the sky woke it up.

It's a pretty convoluted story if you've followed the viral marketing campaign, all the different sites etc. spell out things that weren't even alluded to in the film, Like how the secret ingredient of slusho is sea nectar, which some japs harvest from near antartica or some shit, and through some connection with the venom from the parasites the beast shed, the secret ingredient becomes suddenly volatile and eventually leads to the infected (Bit by a parasite and having ingested slusho) person swelling up and exploding...
Which totally clarified for me that scene where that bitch started bleeding and then exploded behind the curtain, I had no fucking idea why she'd just randomly popped. theres heaps of little tidbits all over the net, I think the movie is only one echelon of the entire story.

Cloverfield is what Rhyhorn evolves into, so it's weak against Surf and HydroPump.

No wonder it left the ocean.

Dude your so stupid, if Cloverfield was to be a pokemon it would have to be a legendary unto its self seeing as it's from space.

Gotta think about these things.

I heard it wasn't from space.

QUOTE
The Japanese oil company TAGRUATO drops a satellite (Chimpanz III) into the ocean as part of viral marketing (shown at the end of the movie when Rob and Beth were on the ferris wheel). TAGRUATO works with SLUSHO (a slush company), as the main ingredient for SLUSHO is found at the satellite dropzone (deep ocean). While searching for satellite and ingredients, they woke Cloverfield (the monster).

The main ingredient of Slusho apparently turns a tiny fish into a HUGE whale, which explains the size of Cloverfield.

Rob apparently was going to be the Vice President of TAGRUATO in Japan.
