they could do that...if they want to make a solo dvd and have it not sell any copys
you guys mainly sell dvds to each other and most groups probably don't sell 100 dvds of one title. at least that is what it sounds like from what about what you guys write that do release dvds.
here u have a dvd that will be in stores and probably on commercials in the next several months, it will sell tens of thousands of copies potentially. this is a grander audience and we need the best footage possible.
To be honest Moody, most of the groups in that DVD could release their own DVD.
Muppets are a good example, if they get this attention from some small poorly editied (from what I've heard) mixup, think what they could acheive on their own with decent editing and all their own footage.
You've proved yourself its not exactly hard to put out a DVD and I'm sure many groups could do it. When Generate Damage is released I don't wanna settle selling a few copies on these forums.
I dont think u give the dvd enough credit and the things you've heard are different from what I've heard. u and a few othes say "poorly edited" but I personally disagree. the dvd was edited a certain style to keep the footage authentic. it wouldn't have been as cool with all these extreme color changes and crazy effects because I wanted the footage to feel as real as possible and it has that effect on the viewers.
releasing a dvd and selling 50 copies isn't hard, but getting distribution, box art, dvd art, packaging, graphics, music rights, sound effect rights, acquiring all the content and legal rights, fully edit, design a dvd menu, advertise and promote + more takes a lot of time, money and effort. don't underestimate the process of completing and releasing a DVD on a professional level + I've been doing this for 6 years so I didn't prove this to myself witht the homegrown colleciton. I proved this to myself a long time ago.
and for solo dvds, I'm actually producing a bunch of solo dvds right now such as luke hadley, trailer park mafia, dex and funk master, another homegrown group that doesn't post on this board, and 2 big name groups that don't post on this board that you ALL most likely have seen on TV before or at least heard of.
if you want a solo dvd of your group produced on a professional level, I will do it for you and get you plenty of complimentary copies for you to sell yourself. of course I can't do this for EVERY group but if a group has enough footage good quality footage, we can make it happen.
I will also consider linking up distribution deals for all fully completed DVDs that groups have finished but the music needs to my legal to use. we can make changes, but I can get finished dvds distributed as well.
I just rather have my editors handle the productions and that way we can also cross promte your footage in the homegrown collection dvd with the footage in your solo dvd.
