started watching flashforward last night. I really enjoyed it plus there was a billboard for Oceanic Airlines which means it takes place in the SAME UNIVERSE AS LOST, faaaaap.

I asked about this show on here when it first came out like 6 weeks ago. No one else wanted to talk about it.

I think it's got a great premise, but the creators don't know what to do with it. They never take the time to develop the characters, so the things that happen to them don't carry nearly enough impact to make us care all that much. The Benford marriage is in trouble? I never cared enough about the Benford's in the first place to worry about their marriage. Maybe it was in trouble to begin with.

And that's one of the main complaints I have with the show - it focuses too much on domestic drama and hackneyed problems hundreds of shows have already worried about. They have such a great problem to worry about, but instead it chooses to focus on Mark's alcoholism, and the trust he and his wife have of each other.

Then there's the whole paradox caused by the fact that the FBI pursues leads based on Mark's Flash Forward. This means that the only reason they even considered some of the names is because Mark saw them. None of it occurs organically, and this whole chicken and the egg paradox arises.

Have you seen all of the episodes up 'til this week's, Mike? Because I'd talk about more, but don't want to ruin it for you.

I've only watched the first 2, but I can see what you mean. The fact the series starts off with the blackout makes it difficult to emmerse yourself in the characters and actually care about the futures they saw in the visions.
I feel Lost did it perfectly with the flashbacks which constantly developed characters throughout the series. But anyways, if there's a chance the two are linked somehow I'll keep watching...

Love that show. Really hope there is a lost connection but they have the same actors which would make it hard for it to happen.

It also pisses me off that the actor who plays Mark (Joseph Fiennes) only has one emotion for the entire series. "I'm concerned. This is my concerned look."

I've watched every episode, and there've only been 3 of them that I would say satisfied me. The most recent episode was really well done, and made the show interesting as hell.

Edit - Oh yeah, and it's directed by David S. Goyers, who was responsible for The Dark Knight. So, it's gotta have some potential.

I've always wondered why 99% of the visions aren't of people counting down and cheering at a Future Day party, which would be a lot like a New Year's Eve party.

Like, why people aren't aware of the FlashForward time about to happen in their Flash Forward. This is why Time Travel gets sticky.

There are a few connections, but there only nods to Lost.

If you see the Oceanic billboard it says that Oceanic maintains a 100% safety record which cant be possible as FlashForward is set in 2009 but the Lost crash was in 2004. Unless it links to the fact that when Juliet detonated the bomb it means that the plane never crashed. That is the only way that the billboard can make sense.

I'm sure Mike will agree this is the only explanation of why it would say 100% safety record. So thats my theory anyway.

There are loads of other things though, like the show starting off with disaster. Jack waking up to the crash and the FF guy waking up to a similar scene. Also in the first episode of FF it mentioned a brother and a sister with the last name Rutherford. In Lost Shannon and Boone's second names are Rutherford. And they are back in the 6th season of Lost. Another hint that the plane never crashes.

But the producers say they are doing this to draw Lost fans in to FF because its a similar idea and Lost finishes soon and they want FF to take over from it. Also the FF date 30th or something of April is when last season of Lost went on break/ended. And could mean something with Losts final season?

Meh, thoughts?
