I was basically told I was too fat to join the army today.
what did I do?
grabbed a 1/2lb burger, fries, and a shake from a corporate chain then parked my pickup truck by the nearest body of water and enjoyed the scenery while I basked in my obesity.

Yeah, never even heard of it. I loved Fight Club and didn't want to be a Palahniuk fan because of that one book, so I just chose another novel at random. The structure of the book is really interesting, how the chapters alternate between a group of people locked in an abandoned theatre, and one by one telling a story.
Also, same as Fight Club, there's a first-person anonymous narrator, so that's open to all sorts of shit. Definitely want to read more of his; Vice magazine published the first four chapters of Snuff - about a porn star who dies while trying to break the record for most men fucked in a row - and that was the same mixed style of fucked up and thought-provoking.
