Mix-Ups & Promo's

Man, I know how much fun these things can be to make. But this is getting redicules. All I see around here latley are "mix-ups" or "promo's" Promos for what?! A DVD that maybe 10 people will see?!

How fucking stupid do you have to be?! You're NOT going to get a huge following with 3 promo's if noone knows who you are. There is an order in which selling DVD's works.

Step 1. Get a following.
Step 2. Sell a DVD.

It doesn't fucking work the other way around, stop being retarded.

It seems like people who join these forums to pimp their work just become slaves to this place.

Their goals for making some cool and original videos gets over taken by the urge to impress the "veterans" on this board.

It's even gotten to me! I find my self racking my brain, trying to edit something that will be up to the standards of the HGF users, and that's FUCKING RETARDED. This ISN'T the only source of an audience!! You have the whole internet for that!

The critisizm on here doesn't help anyone "get better", it helps them to think they have to copy what people do here to get better, which only prompts more complaints and shittier videos.

The lack of originality around here is almost retarded. I haven't seen an original STUNT if like, forever. Everything I see is either exactly the same as something I've already seen, or a variation of it. Which wouldn't be 1/2 bad if the groups would spend a few minutes finding an original way to present what they're doing. But video after video, you get the same shit: some HXC music, a few effects and some fast cuts, followed by completely uneccessary credits due to the fact that the only people who will see it know who you are on this site.

The main point I'm trying to make is stop compromising you work to impress people here. Even if you don't capture the attention of people here, there will be many others who will actually like what you do. No need to comprimise, just do what you want.

Cuz this who "scene" is getting pretty fucking boring now-a-days.

All people do around here is talk about shit that's off topic, or retarded shit like "SHOULD I BUY THIS GL-2?"

I agree regarding the criticism subject, and videos are becoming slightly too repetitive with old footage used constantly. People need to use some fresh ideas!!

Your saying "do what you want" we are, your complaining about lack of originality. But where doing what we want like you said.

Then you want to see some original stunts, but you say "stop trying to impress people" we need to impress people to get them to buy our DVDs, and this is the best place to sell this genre of DVD's, or maybe you can reccommend somewhre where we can share videos and talk about HG which will be better than this?

Then you want us to get a following, release a DVD, but it seems where not original enough to get a following so how do we get a successful group and DVD going with the advice you've given us.

Most groups are saving original stuff for their DVD, promos are just to hype up a DVD

How about no, we want to impress people so they can buy our DVD, most groups save original stunts for their DVDs.

Selling DVD's comes before just having your stuff seen. That's pathetic.

It's not about DVD sales. It's about creating and entertaining.

You put all your best stuff on DVD's, then maybe, if your lucky, 25 people will see it.

You put all your stuff on the net, thousands will see it.

But if all you're interested in is making a few bucks off a DVD, then bravo, go ahead with what you're doing.

I'll stick to being an artist, and no compromise shit for money.

I have to say it got to me too, I would make a vid and be like "I wonder if the poeple on hgf would like this part" even if I liked it myself.

About origionality, it would be cool to see original stuff every time you watched a vid but it can be hard to think up ideas, hell even we have stolen ideas in the past and I know you have too.

So yes I do agree with you on this rant bonah.

dude if you want a following the last place I would go would be hear, go to myspace and spend 2 hours a day spamming that bitch, than get some money together, hand out flyers, I'm talking about flyering everyday all day if you can.

this place is like going to your local bar and seeing a local group of bands, half the people in the crowd is either in another band or friends with a band member or girlfriends, thats the way it is when you first start out and anyone whos done a live show knows that. thats pretty much the same way this place is

mix ups and promos are just to get the groups name out, somthing that will help get them a following

these days mixups and promos are just an umbrella word for your video that dosn't feature 1 skit stunt or prank

I am with you on groups that suck releasing dvds and promoting them here, I havn't seen one good one

but just cause a group dosn't have a huge following dosn't mean they can't have a dvd
