When filming something press the photo button and it will take a full size cap.

All the manual focus you can drink!

What a good way to spend an extra $300.

Nothing, just more expense for slightly improved features no one uses anyway.

all I do is up the footy, and take screen caps from fcp. each and every sony consumer hdv cam, is a stripped down model of the HC1(which is a stripped down model of the a1u) they're all downgraded from that, if you'd combine all of them they'd probably equal an hc1, I noticed the hc1 produces amazing quality as shown in the screem caps and bright colors.

im filming with a hc1 at the moment. plan on getting a hc9 in afew months. which you recon isnt as good for a improved version?

Its improved on the HC7, as in, its the same camera for the footage it produces.

Go for the lower cost because it's the same thing at the end of the day unless you need manual focus without a little dial wheel.

Save yourself some money.

no it is not an imporved version on an hc1, if you want somethign better then hc1 get an a1u or even fx1, yeah ILL, before sepnding my $1000 last year on an hc3 I looked up everything, all articles really looked indepth what im paying for and picked the hc3 over hc5 and hc7 that came out at nearly the same time, the hc1 was discountinued due to it being able to film the same quality without the doubt an fx1 does, but the low light is very poor, and an hc3 was still new and had better still pics, but with a downside of less quality(video) then the hc1 and without the manual focus-zoom ring, which is such a wonder on the hc1 we just bought, I'd pick the hc1 over any 3 chip cam( except an hvx200).

Why do people who film skating insist on the VX100? I'm just curious because on Fully Flared they used HVX100's and VX1000's. Seems like with their budget they would have went with the newest model of VX.

thanks for pointing that out, I didnt even notice the HC9 didnt have a focus ring! I want a hc1 now, but they are rare to find now. but I did read this "The industry's much-regarded semi-pro HDV 1080i camcorder "HC1E" (highly regarded and much preferred by enthusiasts to the HC3/5/7 models for its ergonomics and CCD performance)"

I was going to get a new HC9 with 2yrs warrenty for £500.

I can get a used HC1 for £750 but no warrenty.

I was amazed at the 120x zoom on the HC1. I checked and the HC7/9 only have 20X max!

but my only problem so far with the HC1 is that it acts like its zoomed in 15x and when using fisheyes they act as wide angles.

does this problem happen in the later versions can anyone tell? HC3/5/7/9?

I do plan on using manual focus, which I think will be easier with the HC1s wheel. do any later versions have this or is it just that small swtich on the side?

and I was planning on buying the HC7 for ages. but its now alot cheaper to buy the HC9.

and how the fuck do you capture HDV? I just capture a blackscreen when I try.

So in all honesty youd go for an hc7 over the hc9 for the price?

looking into getting a 2nd hdv cam so yes thats a serious question.
