Ray, you have a truelly excellent base to start with. I seriously wish I was in your position because the untrained gym guy, aka n00b can put on 10 pounds of pure muscle very quickly if he trains right, plus you don't have much subcutaneous fat to lose, so a few crunches should reveal those abs in no time.

If you dedicate yourself for 3 months, you really will be happy with the results.

Should I start going to the gym for this? Or will chin ups and crunches with a healthy diet and running do the job?

I work for the Y here, and they have really nice facilities I could use for free. I just feel like such a scrub walking up there with all of the legitimate fitness-minded people being impressive.

The gym would be the best, do simple excersises like dumbell bench presses, deadlifts, squats, bicep curls, and tricep pushdowns to start with.

Everyone feels like an idiot when they first go, then you realise everyone is there for a common reason and no one is judging you. You will feel like giving up, but stick it out and workout 3 - 4 times per week and in 3 weeks it will become habit. You will need to eat plenty if you want to grow mass, I will post some cheap bulking foods along with my articles before the competition starts. `

ive actually been working out since like mid february. I started off really slow tho, and im only starting to really pick it up this last month or so. problem is the 2nd last week I was busy I couldnt work out, and then this past week ive just been too sick to do it.

once I get over this sickness thing, I def plan on hitting hard, and getting alot of cardio in. thats my biggest problem is I dont to cardio.

oh yeah and in the last 6 months I put on like 20 pounds of like pure fat. im like 5'9 maybe 5'10 sittin at about 175-182ish. I wanna just drop back down to 160ish, which shouldnt be hard at all, I just need to get on a eating schedule. honestly im pretty much in the worse shape of my life right now.

oh ps > g, or dodge, do u guys do any forearm workouts? cuz I have tiny wrists so I wanna make my forearms look bigger

get a dumbell and a rope.
tie a weight piece of 2KG or whatever to the rope and attach it to the middle of the dumbell.

now hold both ends of the dumbell with both of your hands now roll the rope up till the end and then down again... you will feel it burning.

Hey Gary or Matt. I have a friend who wants to join the forums so he can also join in this competition. He's a good person. If you could clear his registration on here, that'd be starboard.

The username is just straight up "Morgan"

Thankkkkks.

I could see Ray winning this thing, he seems determined and has a great body to work from.

Whereas I have abit of fat to remove first. Underdog win.

I see this as pretty pointless for G and Sam who have been working out for quite a while.

But as a really good thing for people who start from scratch.

:biggrin: Wanna know the truth?

I'm running a summer program for teens at the Y 13-16 focused on service learning, and leadership development. A major push we're trying to make is for personal responsibility for your health. And that starts with eating healthily and taking care of your body. I don't want to be scrawny and unfit while preaching to the kids how important it is to be healthy and to take care of yourself.

Plus, on a completely unrelated note, I want to get mad pussy.

And, I've never worked out a day in my life. I am literally starting with what God gave me, along with years of abuse from my poor dietary habits. I exercise only when playing sports for school or at work with the kids, but that's all.

Not really, my bodyfat levels are very high after bulking. My estimates atm are between 17 - 20%, I hold it well though so you wouldn't know :)

You dont get mad pussy with muscles. You get mad pussy with confidence.

But anyways as long as you know what your doing and give it your all I'd say you'll be in pretty good shape come 4th of July.

Cant stress the knowing what youre doing enough. Really concentrating on doing your reps correctly.

And youre so skinny that you seriously have to start eating A LOT in order to gain lean muscle! and keep it healthy. not easy.

GL guys.

EDIT: Gman good luck with losing that bulk :D seen so many fail at that. first they bulk up get mad strong and when its diet time they fail and remain strong but FAT ;D

I think being cut will give me more confidence. And I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm not that skinny, though. I'm 155 pounds, and not muscle.

That's true. It will give you more confidence def.

I'd love to help but its really hard to give pointers if im not standing next to you when youre doing the actual rep.

Dodge probably has some good pointers on workout programs and G on nutrition. So youre set!

Didn't get to see too much of your abs, but your pecs are pretty brutal too. I think you're turning me gay.

edit - gayer.

My abs only show when tensed, slight fade when untensed because they are covered with fat. Been training on and off for 2 years, I should have a much better physique, but I like to drink every weekend which slows me down. For these 3 months I will cut down to once every 2 - 4 weeks :)

My cock keeps pushing it down :\

Been training on and off for 2 years, bulking I tried to clean bulk as I already had fat gain previously so I gained around 3 -4 % bodyfat.

I have problems bulking though, my digestive system suffers when I put so much food into it :P

Daily eating would be;

Breakfast;
Whey protein shake
150 grams oats
wholemeal sandwich with 150 grams ham

11 o clock;
wholemeal sandwich with 150 grams ham
300 grams cottage cheese

Lunch
Whole roasted chicken or 2 cans of tuna with low fat mayo on wholemeal bread

16:30:

300 grams cottage cheese
150 grams of oats

Workout - carbohydrate drink of 400kcal during workout, generally dropset routine

Post workout, 100 grams of maltodextrin and 2 scoops whey protein with 50 grams oats

Dinner: 3 steaks with sweet potato and veg

Before bed: Whey protein mixed with milk to slow digestion or cottage cheese

So all in all, too fucking much to eat. Next time I will use my own gainer shakes consisting of casein, whey and oats in between lunch and dinner.
