There isn't one. Just make sure its PAL that you get.

you sure cause I'm getting alot coming up saying HDR-HC7E, I think it's just cause it's grey.
why PAL? with my cam I have now ive always uploaded footage into NTSC... is that wrong?

PAL, short for Phase Alternating Line, is a colour encoding system used in broadcast television systems in large parts of the world. Other common analogue television systems are SECAM and NTSC.
Those two have lots of differences, from framerate to picture size.
PAL is used in europe, NTSC is used in states (to make it simple). If you are located in Europe I´d suggest you use PAL. E.g. if you make ntsc dvd, it will most likely to show up distorted in european tv´s or european dvd players dont play it or... you get the picture. If you still want to spread your videos to e.g. usa, you can still convert it to ntsc afterwards. But for the filming, editing and other stuff I say you use your areas own standard. (everytime you convert you lower your picture quality and you are more vulnerable for errors).
Difference between HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC7E is that the one with E, is european model. So its most likely films in PAL. There might also be some other differences e.g. in features. ok thanks for this, I'm gonna go for the HDR-HC7E then and upload in pal from now on
also I swear a group bought the hc1 and a wireless mic? will a wireless mic for this cam?

Sony has a wireless mic and hc7 seven has miniplugin for mics, should be okay.

Its cheaper, has better pic quality, analog in, 24 progressive scan, those would be the main reasons. Many reviews have rated it above hc7.
With the money I save, I can buy external mic and videolight for it to make it a great cam. And I´d like analog in so I can convert my old footage to digital.

My old footage is on vhs tapes. But would work for hi8 as well, I think. I dont know what kind of cords there are available.
But there is also cards for computers that can do it too.

Because in my experience Canon products succumb to damage and error messages all too easily. I just think Sony offers a finer product in terms of a lack of faults but yeah if Canon is better then go for that.

has any one with a hd camera tried buring a dvd yet? caused I asked a guy at a camer store about the cameras and he said if you get a hd camer you need a hd dvd burner for it to keep the quality

I need to know how I can attach it to my HC7 because it doesn't have a hotshoe. >_<

yeah you need hd everything, hdmi socket in the back of your computer, I think your computer need to have a hd card in it and you need hd editing software and dvd whatever...

The mic doesn't. But I've solved the problem with that now.
tell me how that mic works for you, I want one for my HC3 if it works.
EDIT: I think the hc3 might be to small, anyone no how to raise the mic up a biit so it wonk be in the picture?
