I just want to get the AC conector to start playing Asteroids, Planet Patrol and Pong on my Atari 2600.

Its impossible for me to get a console, they are too overpriced in here. I just can think of getting a Wii, because its the more accessible. And for the ps3, maybe ill wait like 4 years to get it by myself.

the xbox 360 its def. get it if you can.

The ps3 says it has lots of power, graphically and everything, but that's a lie.

Where does it say this?

The fact that they claimed it was twice the power of the xbox360, that's the selling point. Then they released ingame footage and it's no better than the 360.

Gah I've tried to stay out of this argument. For one it's up to the game developers not sony to deliver great graphics and gameplay, just because sony offers the hardware and power doesn't mean every developer is going to use that power to it's full potential. Secondly shit bell rang... I'll take this back up when I get out of school nigga.

....Of course they will try and use it to it's full potential, maybe not just in graphics, but in AI and the scale of the game. All of which is no better than the 360. If it's a big game, the developer will use it to it's utmost ability, as then it will make the developer more known, money etc.. If the developer doesn't use it to it's full potential then it's either 1. a shit game or 2. the console is too hard to develop for, which is somewhat the case for sony, as some mid level developers dropped out of created ps3 games as it's too hard to use.

Well xbox360 sales are slumping at the moment. So either people are making christmas presents of the Wi (lol) or ps3.

I love how every xbox magazine goes out of its way to criticise Sony and the Playstation, often in the most petty ways. I pick up the official magazine at work sometimes and it's full of it. You look in a ps2 mag and the xbox is hardly ever mentioned, and even then it's to announce a cross-console game.

EDIT:
QUOTE(Opinionated Joe @ Oct 21 2006, 05:08 PM)

Nar don't want to get the PS3, really don't like sony's consoles, it's not original enough, it's copied Xboxlive almost to the letter, and the design is very basic and unoriginal. The games are mostly rehashes as well, if they not, then they are mostly not exclusive, so it's not really worth it in my opinion, not as a genuine nextgen console.

This made me lol so hard. DOn't you think it's slightly ironic that you're accusing Sony of being unoriginal when Bill Gates saw what the Playstation, Sega and Nintendo systems had and decided to make his own console? He basically entered the market by copying everyone. You can't succeed at a console and NOT copy. The technology has to be passed on and improved, or by now we'd be sitting around going "Well the ps2 played DVDs, so we can't use that. And it had an internet feature, so we can't use that, either". It's moronic to expect games companies not to copy. I'd rather they do, to be honest. A good thing can always be improved. Rather that than Sony invent some kind of hashed internet.

EDIT 2: Oh, and about the game rehashes; most of the release games will be. That's nothing new. Consoles regularly release their consoles with reliable gamig franchises to back up sales. It's safe and effective. The Playstation 2 did exactly the same, and that ended up doing quite well, didn't it? Once it gets out, the original games start appearing. Rehashes upon release is nothing new.

ps3 wont be out at christmas. The xbox mags don't go out of their way, they just have updates on where every other console is going. The ps3 has seriously fucked up on a lot of stuff, not through opinion but fact. Showcasing a ps3 game on xbox 360 hardware, copying xbox live to the letter, installing half arsed motion sensors on the contorller like the wii, loosing out of major exclusivity with games, GTA, Assasins Creed, resident evil 5, maybe the loss of the final fantasty exclusive to wii. It's a lot bigger than all of the other consoles, as big as the original xbox, which a hell of a lot of people complained about. over £200 more expensive for effectivally the same specs as the xbox360. The good thing is that the games will be cheaper, well about 5-10pound less, but this is not good for the company who will be litterally loosing money on every console, controller, game sold. This is why the ps3 has got a lot of stick, it really is not having a great time at launching the console.
EDIT: The xbox was actually very original for a console, it had brand new games, halo for example, which instantly became a classic, so it's not like it was a copy. The point of game rehases, is that they are meant to be there as a back up for steady sales like you said. When their biggest franchise goes over to another console, that's a massive dent, they need something new.
Yer taking ideas is a good thing, but completely copying something then selling it for more is stupid. The ps3 online feature has nothing new than xbox, is is a copmplete copy, how can that be good.

Heh it DOES go out of the way. I've read about 6 of them now, and in every magazine I count at least 2 petty jabs at SONY, not just ps3.

I don't care about the exclusivity of titles, and neither do the majority of ps fans. This is typical insecure xbox owner "my console is better than yours, must criticise all others" behaviour, ripened by regular reading of the magazine. Who gives a shit if the exclusivity is lost? My post, and this entire thread, concerns the merits of the ps3 and other consoles. It's not about merits of the companies controlling exclusivity. Non-exclusive games count for nought, mainly because they will all look the same on next-gen consoles anyway. It's individual games that make the difference. Sony are notorious for finding the new up-and-coming developers and fielding their games. Xbox don't do this because Microsoft almost always sticks with the same companies. While this does produce good games, the smaller developers usually don't get a look in and so a lot of good games are lost to other consoles.

With all the side aspects of the PS3, it's a practical home-entertainment system, justifying a large size due to all the other systems it makes obeselete in the home. Not just a breeze-block that plays games.

Oh no. Cheaper games means the company will lose money? My heart weeps. Yet more criticism that has nothing to do with the point - this surely means the ps3 is a good buy? So the company loses money? Who honestly cares? Sony's pockets are infinite, it will never bankrupt so it won't matter.

And what other exclusive xbox games were 'classics'? (halo wasn't even exclusive, I have it for PC). I'm sick of xbox sporting Halo around like the dead horse it is.
You've missed my point entirely. So it had new games? That doesn't make it original. It's a console, so Gates has copied a market. That was my point.
Sony do not need to rethink business strategy because of the loss of one franchise. That wouldn't make any sense.

Because it brings even more to the PS3. That's my point.

You're missing more points than Wayne Rooney at the moment. You ill or something?

It's not a braggin contest, I just want to spend money on something that I would get more out of and includes more game, more developers and more input. So yer I want the best console, and so you compare the others. Im not randomally criticising sony, just stating what has happened and then a judgement. Like everyone does.
It will never bankrupt, that's a stupid thing to say. I don't want your heart to weep, im saying that it is not a good buisness venture.
The point about exclusivity, is that is your paying 425pound for a console that looks the same and has the same games as a 200pound one, why pick the most expensive? Gta will be non eclusive but that certainly wont be for nought, it will probably be one of the biggest selling games.
Microsfot don't use original companies, you really don't know. Bungie for example, although an already establishied company, were not that known and it was microsoft who brought them up. BigBluebox, another company who made it's name of xbox. Microsoft is using the havok engine to new levels creating different aspects of it. Saying that microsoft shuns away potential developers, playstation 3 has already lost developers because of it's complicated system, so it's a universal thing.

EDIT: The copying of the xbox live will bring more to ps3 yer, but for more money and no added features, so why do it. If you are charging more for something that is the same as something else, you need to be original in order to sell it.

Yet again you miss the point. I'm not a board director, I'm not a stockholder, I'm not a developer, I'm not an investor. So why would I or any other 17 year old care if it's not a good business venture?

I garauntee you that by the middle of the PS3 'era', it's games will look fuckloads better than any other on the market bar PC. That has what has always happens - it takes a long time for the software to catch up with the hardware. (Which is a shame because on the PC the software NEVER catches up to the hardware).

So you can count of two companies? I can list a host of companies brought up by Sony in a campaign spanning over 10 years. At the end of the day, Microsoft has the hardware contacts but Sony will always have the ties to the gaming world due to a long and respectable career.

I can't be bothered:S, I care if the company is going to be making or loosing as you can judge on it's enthusiasm in it's idea. Xbox has only beena round a little while, and so it will improve on this given time just like sony. The ps3 is no more a home entertainment unit than the xbox360. Online play, dvd player, Music storage and player. It's the same.
On a different note: Microsoft now are allowing you to download a free package to design and create your own game free of charge, then for a fee you can play it on your 360. Which should allow for something very unique within a console.

I owe the bank like 38 pounds for going overdrawn. Or trying to, its like a charge they give...

So fuck buying anything.

But nah I never usually buy a console until a good few years after when the next console is about to come out. It's not like I plan it like that, I just don't follow the new 'crazes' anymore.
