HGF's post count for this month is the lowest it's been since February 2005 - which is way back when HGF first started really coming to life.
These are the post stats for the past full year:
External image not preserved — inspect source: http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/3774/deadkr4.jpgIt's fairly obvious that this has to do with the fact that the homegrown scene itself is dying, or at least it's presence on this forum. That's what I think.
What do you think?

Thats a pretty big decline.
It seems that most threads die after a few pages, especially HG ones, even video releases don't seem to be getting as much replies as they used too.
I remember when I first started lurking here, there where tons of HG threads, a forum is for discussing anything really but most threads today seem to be like drunk ones and other things.... and most of them annoy me as there all just the same, but they seem to be getting less and less replies everyday (even though they get alot already) to me anyways.
Heh I'm just rambling now but as I was saying when I first lurked here Retardz had released their first promo, the slow one with all the fades and that made me come back to HGF everyday and find out more info.... what I'm saying is that theres nothing to keep new members attracted, we have some awesome groups posting video releases every so often.... but thats it, when they find HGF, post a video, then after that most just lurk from then on, or post new videos every so often, then disappear.
Most new members arn't sticking around and maybe older ones just can't be assed posting as much, or something.
Edit; Also, should this not be in feedback/news? I didn't move it in case you put it here for a reason or got angry with me, hah.

I've moved to HGV.
29 August 2006, 08:23 UTC#4
Everyone is becoming more self concious when they post about stuff.
Look at made... he's scared to death to tell the truth about how he really feels about me..
29 August 2006, 08:28 UTC#5
because people dont want to post videos because stuck up members get pissy with what content they have...oh I dont like this...you shouldnt put this in there as I dont like it ect ect...I see that all the time. its not feedback its ranting, and there isnt any need for it.

Less videos are being posted and the vip folder is gone, thats probably why there are less posts.
29 August 2006, 09:30 UTC#8
no one talks about HG anymore. no questions being asked about production, filming, editing ect. id like to help out there and help the scene improve with my experence in it.
yeah I agree the scene is dying because no name groups are working on dvds. with no fan base.
like whats the point of makeing a dvd when your not showing any of it online? but if you put your best stuff online and people like it then its good so when you've done the whole dvd people will want it anyway to own the footage on dvd.
29 August 2006, 09:51 UTC#9
I was just wondering the same thing. There's not even one page of new messages in the new posts when I check it and I get on hgf every day around the same time. One reason is that we've lost a handful of old school groups this year that had fans here on the forums.
Jackass 2 will liven up the scene me thinks though
If it continues grow down, pull a ckf and send a mass email to get all the old users back. It worked for them, why not for HGF.
29 August 2006, 11:04 UTC#10
That's a shit decline. I hope it doesn't continue to do so, I can't entirely agree with the lack of videos posted. Recently there's been quite lot of small video releases. The Generate Damage trailer, fat videos have posted a lot up. I think it's not the lack of content so much, but like weak said, not as many people are intersted anymore.
EDIT: Why doesn't the forums hold a competition for newer less heard of groups to post their videos up. Not like a face-off, but like for best stunt video, prank, editing, etc. Get them a bit of credit without random abuse and could maybe rekindle the interest on here a bit? I dunno, just an idea.

I've wondered that for like the past year, new people were joining and being all, look forward to our dvd! but I didn't understand why they'd release a dvd that no one would buy because they didn't release stuff to get our mouths watering, it was just all poor planning and production, just to be a part of the scene. those are the people killing hg.

yeah I remember when HG was showing people what you've filmed like in the last month ect. now people are like heres our dvd its not very good because we filmed it last year, and if they had filmed it last year and posted it here, we could of all gave input and helped them out so when they did finaly make a dvd it would be worth while and watching but alot of the new HG'er know nothing, respect no one because as far as they can see they are the shit...when really...I dont even need to finish that lame joke off to see where its going.
we need to have a meeting thread. and explain to the new'er groups how the scene has been running and without new groups following the patten its gunna decline till its nothing.
29 August 2006, 12:36 UTC#13
After a while, when groups run out of things to release [I.e. You can only release a certain amount of mixups.] they begin to want to leave their groups 'legacy' in the form of a DVD that everyone can appreciate. But it seems alot of groups are leaving it to just that and ending it afterwards.
I think that the 'film somthing now' thread was a good idea. Because it allowed people to see what people are capable of on a spur-of-the-moment basis, which showcases true talent in terms of HG.
I feel these forums have stuck to the ideas of ''These are the best groups, you all suck.'' sort of thing. People feel as though they should leave it to these ''better'' groups to make the releases because anything they could churn out is potentially inadequate. For instance when T0M challenged one of the ''better groups''. It hardly allows for other people to shine as a new group and excludes anyone that doesn't have some hXc rep.
Like we wanna start filming for a DVD, we don't exactly have a fan base but we want something to put our piece into HG, and add something to it. But thats not to say we wont be making releases until thats done.
Thats just my take on things anyway.

I havent posted that much because I just started college.
29 August 2006, 13:19 UTC#15
When you think about it, that week in Newquay had about 10 posters from here away from the forums. Me, Circa, Kane, Made, Marc, Rob, Liam, Joe, Bencka, Jones, Vode (and whoever else I missed, I can't be bothered) are all regular posters...It would make a considerable difference I guess.
It's also the summer holidays, people have other stuff to do.
Ha, I hate hearing the whole "dying scene" speach, it's just depressing. Homegrown is whatever we make it.

To be fair, he's right. The people who complain about the scene dying are the people that should be doing something about it. I know I'm not going anywhere.

If you do quick math, average posts per day from everyone in that group is near ten, and some even over 20...
External image not preserved — inspect source: http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/3650/blackpeppercanff1.jpgThat would make near 100 posts per day from that group, for ten days near 1000. And summer obviusly gets post count down.

How about releasing some videos? I haven't seen anything from you guys. Only H4. Where is the mixups!?

I've noticed that it is a lot less active here compared to when I was here at the beginning of the year.

Agreed. I think people are afraid to post new content because of some of the counterproductive "feedback" they get. Telling someone "Oh that's shit". Doesn't help anything and really doesn't make people want to post anything else in the future.

Be completely honest now, how good are you expecting a release from us to be based on videos you have seen of us before?
