diary of the dead

switched off half-way through. fucking atrocious movie, only sold on the fact romero directed it.
acting is awful, absolutely no chemistry between the boring cliché characters. the storyline is non-existent and nothing is really explained - a cheap copy of the "fear of the unknown" approach that cloverfield executed perfectly. however, the characters feel the need to narrate everything else of non-importance that is blatently obvious to the watcher.
the handheld camera view is done poorly and we are constantly told that "it's to document history maaaan" incase we weren't aware why they were filming this monstrosity.

Alien Abduction: Incident In Lake County

Surprisingly good film. I really enjoyed it. The acting was horrid, but the realism and gritty feel to it all made it very believable. I could've gone without a lot of the screaming and excessive fringe relationships/themes that they seemed to force in there for no reason, but overall it was a good watch. I'd like to see the original McPherson tape to see what the ado about it is.

Like, this film was good because of its presentation and overall "feel" of horror. But, the actresses, outside of Rosie, were all pretty horrid. Kirk was a bad actor too. Matthew, and the other two McPhersons were pretty good. Maybe if they had amateur actors and more realistic people playing the roles, I would have given it a 9 or 10, but as it is, I'll give it solid 7. Good film, just so weak in the acting department, which really speaks volumes to the strengths it has everywhere else.

edit - I just lifted my laser mouse up a little bit on accident, and the red light beamed up from it onto the desk and completely freaked me out.

yeah it's weird how it still passes as a good watch despite the poor acting.

frontier(s) - when your movie is exactly like a dozen other recent movies, the only thing that can really save it is too have good characters. It failed at that so this basically comes down to a shitty French hybrid of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hostel.

I knew that film would suck dick. Romero has shamed himself twice in a row now. Apparently he becomes worse of a director with every new film he makes.

He's really fucked up his long running series.
