Smokin' Aces.
This just wasn't as good as I expected. Sure, there were some awesome action scenes, but they seemed to be over so fast. The rest of the movie was some slow-paced, convoluted drama that ended in a twist that I saw from miles away.
The characterisation in particular was really poor: I had no idea who anyone was - like their history, for example. The characters all just seemed thrown in. There was huge potential for each hitman to have an awesome backstory or motive or whatever, but no.
Maybe I'm just being harsh, but to be honest, I was waiting for it to end.
I rented it a while ago and felt exactly the same. There was no connection with the characters, they were all just fodder to be thrown into a gun fight. Although I loved Ray Liotta's character for no other reason than I just think he's awesome.
