I just watched this with mixed feelings. Ok first I have to say that I did enjoy it but the ending confused me a little because I was hoping a little that he would continue Dirty Harry's legacy and just shoot everybody without hesitation and without any trouble what so ever (I almost started hoping that it would come to a scene where the commissioner would suspend Harr.. sorry mr Kowalski off the force), but then moments before the credits started rolling I started thinking of the movie as a whole and how noble it actually was of him to do what he did.
And the racial slurs, I absolutely loved them. Not that I'm a racist but I just found it funny when an 80 year old man steps out of a car and calls three black guys in their twenties spooks and spades haha

Ok and maybe there is a racist living inside of me but it was actually a little sad to see the "erosion" of traditional American neighborhoods as in Clint was practically the only "true" American living on the street. I can't say that we have the problem here but I do see why you Americans and especially the Brits have problems with modern immigration

Batman: Gotham Knight - really interesting concept, basically like Animatrix for Batman. A bunch of animators each make their own segment and it turns out that they all come together as one storyline in the end. Some of the stories presented were awesome, and I could definitely see that a lot of effort had gone into not just recreating the universe in an animated short film, but also adding the director's individual touches that made it as much fun to observe and take it as it in was to actually follow the story.

For all the upsides, there were maybe two segments that were basically crap. Over-ambitious art style that just turned out looking sloppy - in one, Batman looked like he had put on about 40 pounds overnight - combined with an abysmal story. One horrible moment sees these three kids recounting how they each saw Batman one day, fighting crime. With a lot of "that's whack, yo!" or "dawg, you be tripping!" thrown in, they each perceive Batman in a different way, as a giant bat or a robot and so on. The idea is totally contrived and boring, and far too child-friendly to fit in with the overall noir tone of the movie.

It's a decent watch, and the good segments outnumber the bad. Personal favourites include Batman seeking out a female fakir (a position not usually open to women) so that he can learn to overcome pain; and the final climactic segment as well. Download if you're a fan and need to kill an hour.

Blacula, a Blaxploitation classic.

Starter For 10 - fairly formulaic spin of geeky guy finds something that he's good at, falls in love along the way, something bad happens, he bounces back and discovers the girl he loved before wasn't the right one, and his true love was his platonic friend the whole time.
I merely thought that for a movie that was supposed to be about being on a University Challenge team, there wasn't that much focus on that aspect. It did have some funny moments and a pretty good 80s pop soundtrack. Also Catherine Tate, so that loses a fucking lot of marks. Good, but nothing groundbreaking.

I have a old school blacula poster up in my garage house.

It's not a racist film really. It's more in conversation with the new aims of the Black Nationalist movement, specifically, than racism in general.

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist - fucking terrible, hated it. Didn't laugh once at the cast of boring, two-dimensional characters doing absolutely nothing for 90 minutes. Haven't wanted a movie to end so badly since Superbad.

Eagle Vs. Shark - had a really strong beginning but the pace started to slow down a bit as it got to the middle of the movie. Really enjoyable though; the bit where Jarrod's hacker mate uses his dial-up connection just before porn fills his screen is pure jokes.

Burn After Reading - didn't rate it at all. Just seemed to have very little point and it was far too confusing to actually follow what was going on, or identify with any of the characters. As far as I could tell, everyone was sleeping with everyone, and everyone said "what the fuck?" a lot, which kinda mirrored my reaction to be fair. The final blow was right at the end, when all this shit apparently happened, and all we get is J.K. Simmons (best actor in the whole flick) talking about it. So people got shot, and caught at airports or whatever, and we just hear them talking about it? Wow, how interesting.

Haha yeah I watched that movie yesterday as well. It had that Napoleon Dynamite touch to it throughout just like vode said, but it didn't quite deliver the same to me, it had some dead parts in it where it got a little too dead for me. But Jarrod's friend was just hilarious yeah haha I loved his nervous nerd laugh. The characters were pretty good, like the dad for example, it's a used joke I know, but I still found it funny how much he favored his late #1 son and the scene where he didn't wanna go up to that hill and just rose up from his wheelchair and turned around back home was too funny

Speaking of nerds, did anyone here ever watch Freaks & Geeks? Such a good show..

In that time movies were finally starting to be aimed directly at Black people (because they were the only one's still going to movies). Blaxpotation is like the genre of film that is directed towards black people, the racism therefor is even more hilarious when you see it.
