The ''Last Movie You Watched'' Thread

There were some moments when I was pretty much in tears laughing. For instance in the beginning when that one big guy just completely fucks up that old lady.

I really enjoy the character that McBride tends to play in his movies. He's so confident in himself that he's oblivious to his obvious flaws. It's a hilarious kind of hubris that allows him to say and do the most heinous things and not seem ridiculous. It's almost like his character really could exist somewhere in America. It's a great compliment to America while under Bush's administration. Confident to the point that all judgment falls on deaf and uncaring ears. It's like he has a complete knowledge of what Tae Kwon Do is, but completely neglects the code of conduct that is so vital to its practice. A lot like Bush and the type of American he is portraying - they know how our Democracy works, but they completely neglect the principles, mindsets, and reasons that make it work.

I dont know, but I cant really up it as my friend has the DVD not me. Such a mental movie, have you heard about it?

I think it's hard to rate comedies. I think you kind of missed the point of foot fist way, but your interpretation is obviously well thought out.

If you saw the alternate ending (he kills his wife on the bleachers) I think it puts the comedy in a different context.

I think the ending was pimp because it won out doing the core of the art the other more famous dude claimed to do the best. Plus that fight between them would have been won if the protagonist believed in cheap combat.

I mean if we really analyzed it the guy wasn't a sleaze ball. He was obviously an insecure person, and I thought the little fat kid was the luziest of the whole thing.

What was the point that I missed, Al?

I got the point it was trying to make. It just didn't do it very effectively. And, the point it made was hackneyed and done a lot better in films with more merits than this one.

And the ending just didn't seem earned by Simmons. He was still out his nice car (which was never explained how he got it in the first place I don't think) and 15 G's.

And I thought that Simmons was a sleazeball through and through. By the end of it, he gains some perspective and pride with how he deals with his wife and Chuck. But up until that point, he was just a deplorable person. Cussing around and physically beating up the kids wasn't meant to make him likable. I think the writers themselves didn't like the Simmons character. Just because he's the focus of the film, doesn't mean he has to be valorous and have redeeming qualities. I think you might have missed some of the points.

Well I was going to watch this film, but any fun it may (or may not) have had, has sure as fuck been sucked out of it by you two. haha

<3 It's worth watching for a couple moments of complete hilarity. Just don't expect a whole lot going into it.

The writer/director does Flight of the Concords (main character is from flight of the concords).

Yep, from the same dude that did kids (haha), but I reccomend it just for the pure weirdness of the film, it has so many cuts in it that don't add to the plot at all and don't really make sence. The film is really quite brutal though, one scene involves a guy raping a girl while forcing her to watch gay porn and scream "you're the best I've ever had".

Loads of sex scenes in it too, but also a lot of bush.

Great documentary. Starts off a little slow, but then gets very interesting. Really start getting attatched to some of the characters.

My Bloody Valentine 3D - Worth a watch, the novelty of 3D is fun and the death's are pretty good. Storyline is also tolerable considering.

Yeah I heard this too about some cinemas, defo not a film worth seeing in 2D. So funny watching Rox keep taking off her glasses for the first 20 minutes.
