I Just Bought...

you like it? im about to renew my contract and was looking to get a different phone. I kinda like my blackberry and the ease of syncing it with my microsoft outlook. but it doesnt take abuse well. im leaning towards sticking with blackberry, but I dont want to shut out everything else.

this has been picked towards the blackberry storm, and have said the omnia to be more reliable and responsive. some people have even chosen it over the iphone and liked it better. I don't have mine yet, picking it up tomorrow. I'm stoked for it tho. the camera is pretty powerful too for such a small phone. it has this badass panoramic shot mode you can use and takes the picture for you when you move from one box to another and stitches up the full photo automatically.

How's the style of this album? Is it heavier than their past releases?

This is on my wish list on pay day.

I'm not quite sure I follow Dan, but here's my short review.

After listening to Carver City about 30 times now, I think I have formed some kind of an opinion of it, and if there's anything I've learned to realize and to appreciate about CKY is how they apply a different style for each album, like they actually said themselves back in the AACBF days. That's why I knew that I instantly wouldn't get completely into the new songs, just like it was with AACBF, but this motherfucker is growing on me insanely. I don't think I can say where this album falls in the CKY discography for me yet since it's obviously so different from the previous albums, or give an overall rating for that matter, but here's my song by song review for it with some sorts of ratings.

Hellions on Parade - 8/10. First honest thought about this song was that it was way too busy and a mess with too many random tempo changes, and I still think that the "Hellions on Parade" chorus cuts in too fast out of nowhere. But I'm slowly really getting into this song and for the moment I can at least say that it's a whole lot better as an opener than Suddenly Tragic (which was good too but too long).

...And She Never Returned - 9/10. First song that I think has a completely new CKY sound. My favorite part would have to be how the song begins, sounds so badass. If I'd compare this with old songs I think it reminds me most of Dressed in Decay for some reason. Really good tune.

Rats in the Infirmary - 9/10. Just like ASNR, this song is radio friendly and is one of the catchiest songs on the album. The chorus with "rrrats RATS" is so intense and sucks you right into chanting it loud. I might actually be waiting to hear this song live the most of all the new songs.

Imaginary Threats - 7/10. Favorite parts of this song would be the verses, I find it hard to find a distinctive chorus, so this song would be the first song to fall in to mediocrity on this album in my books. Still very much worth a listen though.

The Boardwalk Body - 8/10. This song sounded a little too poppy and upbeat on first listen, but now I'm really getting into it. The only thing I'm not really fond of this song are the upbeat ways they open the verses ("20/20" etc). But this song is actually one to bring me the chills, the chorus is sick. This song might actually deserve a better rating than 8, time will tell. The carnival music at the end rocks too, nice little detail.

Plagued by Images - 6/10. I would have been fine without this song on the album. Nothing really sticks out to me in this song. One of the bonus songs (Doubled up on trauma) should have earned this spot on the album imo.

Karmaworks - 7/10. Classic CKYish riff, I like the darker way Deron sings in this one, it gives the song more depth. The chorus is also catchy, but again I don't really like how the tempo changes like someone just snapped their fingers, some sort of a short bridge would have fitted here.

Woe Is Me - 7/10. I like the dark choruses very much. Classic CKY song recorded to fit this album perfectly.

A#1 Roller Rager - 10/10. So good, a feel good song that is very catchy albeit melancholic at the same time, imo the right choice for first(?) single. Shame that the video really doesn't do justice for it, but I love this song. The synths also fit this song perfectly.

Old Carver's Bones - 9/10. The creepyness of this song is what made it stand out first for me after A#1. Incredible song and I love the riffs.

The Era of an End - 7/10. Just like I read in someone's review, this song somehow feels forced to fill the place for the token slow album closer. I just don't think it's any special. I'm not saying it's bad, but just a little mediocre. SYS would have fit this place a lot better. No disrespect to Deron but this song is to me a poor man's Don't Hold Your Breath.

Fisherman's Wharf 1&2 - 6/10 & 7/10. I'm not really into instrumentals all that often and the Groundhog Sessions never really did it for me either so these songs fit well to be only bonus tracks. FW pt2 is better imo. The choking/suffocating sounds are so badass in pt2.

Doubled Up On Trauma - 9/10. Kind of poppy verses, but this song kicks serious ass and fights for the title of the second best song on this album. I think this song would do well on the radio. Favorite parts of the song would be the shouts in the choruses "uh-hey" or however you'd spell it haha

Stripped Your Speech - 8/10. Almost To All of You material, a dreamy tune that has so much energy in it. Continues the awesome slow ballad trend that CKY has always closed their albums with this far. I don't really see why this song wouldn't be the last song on the normal pressing, but I guess you're just to trust Deron that the bonus songs don't fit the CC theme, hence being only bonus tracks.

Thanks Ben dude, I see that this album has its pros and cons, but you're review just makes me want to go out and get myself a copy even more, I think CKY have been bold in moving on and trying new things, but I am glad by the sounds of things that the raw CKY sound is still there, I liked 2 songs off AACBF, so I am sure this album wont be the same.

Definitely want this, so much time I've wasted on the demo just bringing down buildings with controlled demolitions. Bit gutted you can't blow craters in the ground and walls, but I suppose that was proper buggy in the earlier incarnations of the game. As in, tunnelling about 100 metres into a wall before falling into infinity. Good times.

Holy hell man that game is horrible.

I'm so glad I burned this game and didn't buy it. It was a good coaster though.

The multiplayer is worth it. The physics engine is unbelievable. Everyone should just play it to at least have the opportunity to experience how magnificent it is.
