Wow, I just read this whole thread and I must say, this could be a DVD documentary in it's own! All the drama, suspence, comedy, and action could honestly make a cool DVD.. I'm serious, it would be a great way to show the world how tough it can be for upcoming homegrown type stuntmen and film makers.
You've got Moody "The Business Man", Elliot "The Critic", DanG "The Product", and myself as the spectator (since I'd rather stay out of any of these arguments). There are a lot more people involved of course, but these were just the names I seemed to come across the most. (no offence to the people I named)
Anyway, weather the DVD fails or sells a million, you all have to remember 3 important things about the business...
1.) No publicity is bad publicity, unless they spell your name wrong. Meaning, even if this DVD flops.. there's still a good chance that you will gain at least one fan.. and when I say fan, I mean someone you inspired to feel better. You are all heros in your own way.
2.) How much money you made from this DVD doesn't matter in the end.. what matters is how much fun you had making the video in the first place. Sure, some of us live off these videos (just like I live off of my own).. but you have to always remember why we do this stuff. LOVE.. the ability to say "when I was young, I lived THE LIFE!"
3.) If you truely beleive in yourself and what you do, then the money will come and tomorrow you'll eat again.
The key to being successful, isn't selling 1 million copies.. it's having fun doing what you love. Treat your business like a life long hobby and you'll never have to worry about success.. you'll already have it.
