Oscars are on now.
Maybe I can get the last word for an hour or two.
Video making is trial, error and practice.
Movie making is editing.

No you can't get the last word in, you're opinion is not valid here. And you shouldn't be watching the Oscars, it's against your religion.

Pretty spooky finding a site like this Muvee.
They are making some pretty good points for my side.
They say "Video Editing is Dead"

you do realised that is not agreeing with you, it is merely saying that they are far too lazy to manually edit, and prefer to let the computer do it for them. might wanna read something before you think it advocates what you say

Their "what the pros say" confirms that editing video is a colossal waste of time.
Their software "Automatic video editing" is their solution that eliminates editing.
and there are others.
Getting rid of any form of editing is a good thing.

A Freeze frame when he's looking at me, as he flys by.
Embarassed hawk.
Busy lately and a bit lazy, I'll probably get to it in the
next day or two.
I may even demo another non editing secret.
Nice hawk

It takes 3 months or more for the Hollywood crowd
to produce 100 minutes of Video. I could do that
much video in a day if I wanted to. Theirs cost
millions, my way costs pennies. Of course there is
going to be a little less quality, but it's real.
Not editing and not being so picky is what makes
the difference.
In looking at the videos, outdoors people look at
the subject, editors look at the faults.

First and formost I apologise for putting this back to the top of the portal but this is such shit!
Seriously Spectate Swamp, what would you rather watch, an action packed hollywood blockbuster with kickass editing and effects or some guy walking through a field filming a cow pissing?
Seriously, think about it

It is interesting how ones perspective changes.
If you start recording and playing music,
you become pissed at Radio for the constant interruptions.
If you start doing video you become pissed at TV and the movies.
for a whole multitude more reasons.
eg.
Hollywood like lawyers, try to take credit for all "social advancement"
in the last 100 years.
Most resent movie makers pushing their agenda. (Left or Right)
Movie makers edit, video makers shoot.
Don't get me too wrong. Granted there are a few things that do need editing.
And I have learned a few pointers, in all the discussion. Even learned a bit
more about not editing as well. The main point here is "yes you can get by
quite nicely without editing" Like anything, one needs to know a few of the tricks.
We don't have to love editing, to have fun with a camcorder and video.
I was expecting a few more "Yup he's got a point" responses.

This is bullshit. I haven't been invloved in this conversation, but you know what I am going to say, I think editing makes the video better.
Take this scenario for example. Most people here film activies which they love to do, say amature stunts right? Anyone here will tell you that a well edited video of these filmed stunts beats the ass out of JUST these stunts one after another in un un-edited 'raw' video, as narly as the actual footage may be.
And that 'movie makers' 'video shooters' rubbish makes me giggle. I firmly believe producing videos is purely not just for the filming. It is a whole procss of filming, then using editing software to make your video that much better. Sure, sometimes editing may not be needed, but near-enough all times, it makes the video better. It's pure laziness not to edit. If I had the time, I would back my argument up with soem clips of edited and un-edited video, so you can see in front of your eyes what one is better. And plus, good editing is a very hard skill to aquire. It takes alot of experience with handling footage and knowing how to edit to be able to get really good at it. My point being- editing is SKILLFUL and for many young film-makers is a must to the whole process of being able to make a reasonable good clip or video.
Whatever your opinion, which is all it is; the end line is that edited video appears much better to watch than un-edited raw video. It adds another field to making videos other than shooting footage and the final product. It's a process that shouldn't be skipped.

Spectate Swamp. I will shoot something uneditted. I will do what you say is a good idea because I am open minded. However, in return you must put together a clip of all your best clips with editting and music.
Do we have an accord?

Seems your side has the much easier task.
I could make my best 20 clips available for editing

Why don't you let one any single person here edit your videos together in a nice, tight video, and someone else shoot something quite impressive without using any editing at all. Then people can see both sides and both views and make up their own minds. That seems like the logical thing to do, after all arguing over thgs doesnt get anywhere.
