Why edit video at all?

Video editing really doesn't matter.

If you keep the video clips short and shoot lots of them, what's to edit?
Simply skip those that arn't up to par.
I've been actively not editing video for 3 years. It just works.

The posts have been banned, locked and terminated at most of the video forums.

In looking back, at where and what got banned, it's clear.
Not editing video, isn't what any of these forums want to hear.

Why is that? What are they afraid of?

They must have felt terribly threatened, that non-editors,
could possibly produce anything worthwhile.

The gurus don't like it. (What's to guru, when it is this simple)
The editing software companies don't like it.
The editors just hate the idea that unedited video can be any good.

well of course some things dont need to be edited but edited videos are clearly better, theres no arguement there are just easier and more entertaining to watch

its hard to watch raw footage unless its good but good footage should be edited...in our new movie there are some good clips that we didnt edit though because it looks better when not edited so I said takes to next level

Editing can make some shitty stuff seem pretty cool, I voted it takes to the next level.

I get where you're coming from. people edit video for different reasons though:

you can make mediocre footage look better with editing.
just adding music makes footage alot more interesting.
if you don't edit at all, you have to have killer footage.

just take a stunt video and shut the sound off Image file not present in the recovered backup
some videos dont need to be edited,
but when you mix a lot of stunts (a teaser or trailer)
if you dont edit...... you are an asshole

When you shoot lots you get to know the camera.

When you edit lots you get to know editing.

how interesting do you think a major motion picture would be, unedited?

I think he's talking about fancy after effects and shit like that.

Sometimes it looks pretty good, like in the 6th webspoiler from Ripoff.. but sometimes makes me sick, like that trailer of this guys making a video like cky2k (with jumps and shit(

9 are from the last trapline outing.
I just picked 9 of the 27 clips from that day.

The other one is older but funny.

By not editing I can go and video every day
without the worry of unedit video haunting me.

Recently I have burned 10 three DVD sets of this
winters trapline action.

When I shoot lots of video, the law of averages
is on my side. I get more good video that way.

The best shots are usually missed.
Sometimes I'm just a little too slow hitting the record button.

I watched them all.. what happens with the hens?? you hsould of kept recording that man but those where some huge skeletons in the 1st clip

I recorded a minute or two more of the Spruce Hens.
Dropshots allow 2 minutes max then cuts off the video.
My trapline video includes 2 completely different types
of squirrel dens, both were extremely large.
One had pine cones the other had swamp spruce cones.

So basically, you're trying to prove a point?

I'm not sure I get it.. so not editing means you can go out and film more in the day? why not film so much a week, then edit it?

I don't know what it is, but theres something odd about you.

Its true you can get away with unedited video, but If you give me the unedited video, I could edit it and turn it into even more gold!



Also EDITING classes as slow motion. So do you never use that then? if so that sucks if you get a great bail but wont slow it down cuz you "dont want to edit"

I think the only point I have proven is
that video forums censor and are hostile to non-editors.

My computer multimedia player can play any segment
in slow motion. The original file remains unchanged.
For tv viewing in slow motion. I use my camcorder to
video the flatscreen slo-mo computer playback.
Again not editing because I'm shooting new video.

So that measn if you wana show some one somthing, you need to hook ya camera up, find the tape, get the to the bail, press slow mo (sounds a long way to go my friend) when I can just pop in a dvd thats already edited

I very seldom use slow motion and then video that in.
For demonstration purposes maybe.

I can have the computer player show
video_01 then video_02 then a segment of
video_02 in slow motion then video_03..

I often set my player to select a random video
then pick a random start point and play a few
seconds in slow motion. Then freeze on the final
frame for a few more seconds.

With my wildlife and outdoor video, that makes
for a pretty interesting screen saver.

Backup isn't a problem for me.
I have all my video clips sequentially numbered.
I do a mpeg (computer) backup set to autorum
then I do a TV vob DVD burn for TV viewing.

yeah right-o we under stand you dont like to edit...

I edit because my camera is always rolling... I never want to miss a shot.. I couldnt watch an hour long un edited clip of someones party just to see like 5 good bits and if you add the right song it can make the video twice as good..
