Didnt you post a thread a ways back about being completely broke and not having any source of income? If that is the case...wouldnt saving up bit by bit for a vx2100 take you forever?

The best and cheapest camera prosumer camera out there is the Sony trv950. It was unfortunately discontinued, but you can still find a used 1 on eBay for a moderate price. I reccomend saving up a $1,000 for that. If not, consider a Panasonic DVC30 for around $1500 new. If not that, then get the Sony vx2100 for $2100 new.

Well, it's a complicated situation, but I'll have a job very soon and I'm a senior in high school, so I'm almost finished with that.

I was just wondering, is a trv900 or 950 worth it? or should I wait til I have enough for a vx?

I'd rather have a trv900 cause the chips are actually better and from what I hear, it does better in low light.

hmm thats weird. My understand is that the vx2100 is better than the trv950 by far. It was professionally tested at camcorderinfo.com and it supposed to do significantly better than the trv950 in low light conditions. Reason being mainly because the trv950 uses quarter inch CDD's opposed to the vx2100's 1/3 inch CCD's.

Thats not to say the trv950 isnt a good cam, cause its actually an awesome cam. I've used a trv900 (basically same thing as 950) for 40% of my filming and I love them. They do awesome in low light conditions, and are the best camera I can think of under the vx2100. I believe the 950 has a touch screen as well. If you are looking for a smaller sized awesome cam, the trv950 is your best bet, but if size doesnt matter, go for the vx2100. Also because getting a used cam can be sketchy.

I meant trv900 over trv950, because of the chip size, not the vx. I just worded it wrong. Image file not present in the recovered backup

Oh. Well in the case, nah I havent read anything about the CCD's being any different. But I think the 950 was poorly reviewed as they failed to make it any better than the 900. If you can afford it, go with the vx2100. That way I know for a fact you wont be dissapointed.

Weak, do you have a VX2100? I have a VX2000 that gets almost no use. Is the 2100 a giant step up from the 2000?

No not all. There is a few differences, but nothing major from what I remember. The only thing I can recall is that the vx2100 has built in lens cover.

No I dont own one. In Ventura there is cable access station where you can rent pd-150's, trv900's, and vx2100's...so I've been doing that for the past 3 years. I was also using my friends vx2000 for a few years up until it was seized as criminal evidence by police.

Im actually gonna finally be getting a much needed vx2100 next month...cause Im sick of renting from the station. It's free, you just need a membership, but you have to reserve it 2 weeks in advance, and you have to return it the next day. Im sick of that, so its time to buy one.

In some ways, yeah, but I'd probably get the 250 since it doesn't seem like the 400 is worth the extra.
