camcorders between 1000 and 2000 $$$

I'm going to buy a camcorders between 1000 and 2000$$
but I don't really know wich to choose
that probably will depend of features, night vision,light
mini dv or cd and I most want one with a handle and a mic

so plz.... help me

Canon GL2's use quater inch CCD's whereas the vx2100's use 1/3rd inch CCD's. The size of the CCD really plays a big part in image quality and performance in low light conditions. Considering the vx2100 and GL2 are prices so closely, it really makes no sense to go with the GL2...

I would say make a few videos first and really get into it before spending so much money.

Get 4 sony handicams so you never miss a shot.

I don't. Get a VX2100 if you're serious about filming.

If you're just fucking around get one handycam and save the rest of your money for other shit.

if you get 1 big complicated camera that you have to study up on in order to even use, You'll be limited to 1 camera man, (unless you teach everyone, everything which can be damn near impossible.) Not to mention, unless you're doing anything absolutley mother-fucking mind blowing, there's no need to have that small bit of extra quality.

Not to mention those big expensive cams generally have no night-shot on them, so you will need a lighting rig any time you are outside, and it's night.

You get 3-4 small but good mini-DV camera's and you probably will never miss shit. Not to mention you can hand one of them to anyone and they'll be able to record what you want.

Get the sony vx1000, I use my friends all the time. Then after that if you really are into filming go up a level and buy a vx2100.

No. Stay away from camcorders that record onto DVD's, that new format is just a fad that will soon pass. Get a Sony vx2100 or a Panasonic DVC30. The DVC30 is just as good as the GL2 but for about $400 less.

And forget about the nightshot shit. Prosumer cameras rarely have that feature. vx2100's work great in low light conditions, buy a light, mount it on, and youre set.

It wouldn't be just for filming HG, it'd be for a lot of different things, including DVDs of local bands and stuff along those lines.

Didnt you post a thread a ways back about being completely broke and not having any source of income? If that is the case...wouldnt saving up bit by bit for a vx2100 take you forever?

The best and cheapest camera prosumer camera out there is the Sony trv950. It was unfortunately discontinued, but you can still find a used 1 on eBay for a moderate price. I reccomend saving up a $1,000 for that. If not, consider a Panasonic DVC30 for around $1500 new. If not that, then get the Sony vx2100 for $2100 new.

I was just wondering, is a trv900 or 950 worth it? or should I wait til I have enough for a vx?

I'd rather have a trv900 cause the chips are actually better and from what I hear, it does better in low light.
