Alright let me lay it out for you. An Australian man was just given the death penalty in Singapore for drug trafficing. They gave him the death penalty because "drugs ruin lives". Okkkay that makes sense...

Unlike literally every single crime out there, the only victim in drug use is its user. No one else is harmed. It is not a crime for benefit other than to achieve a temporary high.

The guy tried to smuggle it OUT of the country..not in. Why the fuck do they care so greatly when he's bringing the drugs out of their country.

Stuff like this pisses me off probally more than anything. It's insanely fucked up, and it could happen to anyone. It's not just Singapore, and you dont have to be trafficing to get fucked for life. Simple possession of drugs in most 3rd world countries can result in 20 years incarceration. So youre on vacation in some foreign country, come across some dope weed and smoke a bowl...then get busted and your life is officially over.

I fucking hate 3rd world countries. If I was president of Australia Id go to war with Singapore. Id just nuke them over and over so that no troops would ever have to die. Fuck 3rd world countries.

the sad thing is the guy never did drugs..he was only smuggling drugs to get money to get his brother out of debt.

This kind of shit always happens to the wrong kind of people. My friend used to sell weed to people, although he never had taken drugs before. Then one time these guys who bought a load off him offered him a lift home and stabbed him, taking the money back and leaving him in a back lane.

Yeah thats true, but its not fair to punish someone for the increased likelihood that they'll commit other crimes.

If the government was to outlaw drugs because of the good possibility that their users will commit other crimes, why not make alcohol illegal? Alcohol makes you easily agitated and very agressive which is why so many people find and destroy shit when theyre drunk. As far as I know, cocaine and heroine dont have this effect.

People doing drugs to eccess does affect people other than the users. If it didn't then people wouldn't have a problem with it. here's a way to get around these problems. Don't do it in the first place

Smuggle some cigs, not heroin. Heroin fucks people up, and even though this guy was a mule, he should still be executed. He knew the risks, he did it anyway. His country can't bitch about it. I'm glad Singapore didn't grant clemency, it'll teach others not to mess with their shit.

Sorry but this whole story pisses me off. People talk about this guy like he's some kid who got mixed up and badly treated. He was a 25 year old man who decided to smuggle hard drugs. He should've swung for it, and he did. End of.

Rob, the point of this thread isnt about whether he deserved it or not. I used that article as platform to base this topic on, but my focus is on the law itself, not the specific situations of those victim to it.

Having a death penalty for drug smuggeling is beyond ridiculous, and yeah anyone who attempts to traffic drugs knowing the consequenses is fucking dumb, but the point is they shouldnt have this law in the first place.

Sorry dude, I usually agree with most stuff you say, but you're dead wrong here. Do you even know what you're talking about? Singapore isn't a third world country anymore, not even close. The economy out there is booming, more and more banks are investing in sites and a lot of people are getting rich very quick.

It's cleaner than Britain.

It has less crime than Britain.

It's an economic powerhouse.

In Britain, and 18 year guy old can be imprisoned for having sex with a 15 year old girl. Barely anyone does though, because it's consensual. It's illegal, but nobody reports it. Same with oral sex and Singapore. Chewing gum too. My brother went out there, and I'm pretty sure he should be serving life now on an oral sex charge. But, like here, nobody will report a crime that's consensual. In both countries, it's the law. In both countries, it's ignored.
