yeah there are always things like that... "You cant play here man... you get signed but a lable... " Its just crap and its people like that that hold back all the good groups.
But just because of that you cant say they suck. I think Greenday are one of the best around. They have stood the test of time really if you look at it from the punk side. Where as every 2 years you will have Greenday vs ????? it shows they are still here and still kicking ass.

yeah offspring were big before Greenday but Greenday made them. As soon as Greenday hit every punk band got better deals and sold out.
But I like Greenday better .... offspring are just funny... apart from there last album which sucked.

you guys are talking about punk as it stands today, cos I could list many more bands that are more punk from back when punk was only played at dingy clubs infront of 30 or 40 people. But this isn't a punkness competition is it?
anywho, I must say I love the offspring - first gig I ever went to back in 1992 when I was like 6
(and if I'm not mistaken the offspring were around a few years before greenday AND have the biggest selling punk album in the world ever (SMASH) which is a classic)

If I were to say a band 'sells out', I mean that they've changed their sound to fit in with contemporary music to make more $$$. Notice how a lot of people are saying 'I like Old Greenday, but their new stuff is bollocks.' I agree on that line, their old stuff was good, but now it's turned more towards a pop style rather than punk.
And I noticed From Autumn To Ashes were mentioned somewhere. I was quite suprised to hear them on the Indecline DVD, it makes it that little bit better

some of my favourite songs are by green day not so fussed on their newer stuff though, take a listen to paper lanterns

Fuck all that noice that green days sound has changed.....it hasn't I liked the old green day and I really like the new green day. you just can't compare them to a group like the rolling stones, jimi hendrix, The Ramones, PANTERA..............these are bands or artists that changed rock forever in one way or another.........green day did not do that, there was already 10,000 poppy punk sounding bands by the time green day came around, after the misfits and pennywise, nofx, if you wanna bring up real punk legends you'd have to travel back and start talking about those bands
