Greenday. Its hard for people to judge them now because this type of music is everywhere. Its not new now so no matter what comes out peoplewill thikn it sucks because its not fresh.
But if you remember back when they were new and fresh you would without even thinking pick Greenday. they were one of the first bands to make this type of music big. they were the first to speek what teens of that age were thinking.
Now everyone is just a copy of Greenday... So yeah they will suck in that limelight. But you have to look at it like there the godfarthers. They still rock even though they are getting old now.
Unless you can remember you wont understand

I wasn't into there shit back then honestly so I can't say I remember, my mom got me into Green Day and punk rock in general, then I just researched them as a fan and learned about there history. They got there ass kicked out of the scene they grew up in, if that isn't punk I don't know what is.

Lol. I love it when people say "Greenday sold out" its stupid.
in there words "Why spend our own money when we can spend others and get our msuic out to people who want it" instead of selling there shit on streets.
And every band sells out now. Greenday are one of the only bands who have controll over there own music.
So no they were not kicked out of the scene... Because the scene only started when they went public and hit the big time. Without them half the bands now would not be around.
Its like saying Kurt Cobain sucks. yeah his msuc now is not as good as others... But he started that scene... and if you go back to taht time people said he sold out and he was kicked out the scene.... But without him music would not be where it is now.
People lookup to other people. So without them people shit does not happen.
Look at Retardz... alot of peoplel ook up to them. And if they were not around then I dont think groups would be as hard as they are now. But if HG is still around in 5yrs I bet shit changes and there will be better groups in other peoples eyes.... And then people will think who are Retardz (Dont flame me for this... I am trying to make a point

) groups now are wayy better and harder... But without retardz they would not be where tehy are now because they would not have had them to look up too or people they looked up too may have looked up to retardz.
(BTW its late here.... I go on these rants at night as FMS knows)

Yeah they were kicked out of the scene they helped create. The song "86" is about that, "...there is no return from 86 so don't even try". There is a club that they always played at and they played there first show at it was called "Gilmen's Street" and if you were sighned to a mainstream label then you arn't allowed to play there or even go in. That is the same place they grew up and went to for there concerts. Yeah they did get kicked out, I wasn't talking about like the whole "punk community", im talking about there community of punks. But yeah I don't think they sold out, I did when I found out that there logo was going to be on a NASCAR but who cares.
