Thought it was pretty hypocrital of Vic and Bob the other day when they said British comedy has become stagnant with nothing new for the past couple of years. How are they gonna change that? Bringing back a show that went off air over five years ago.

Was just watching this and wondered if people who play hockey just fight for the sake of it because it's sort of become the only interesting thing about the sport. But surely hockey makes you no more likely to want to just fight people?

Hockey is not as violent as it may seem. Except maybe in some shitty beer leagues in Quebec where there are like 6 fights per game. The fights are just a seasoning added to an intense and incredibly fast game. It's not like people go to hockey games to see a fight (I hope), but when they do happen they just add more intensity to the game.
Dunno how Slavin feels about this because people tend to have pretty differentiated opinions both sides of the Atlantic. I'm pro-fight though, as long as it doesn't happen 5 times a game, every game through the season.

I think when you consider a lot of other contact sports, hockey just seems renowned for its brawls. Other sports have fights yeah, but seems in hockey it's sort of expected.

Yeah that's true. If a fight broke out in rugby or american football people would probably get shocked first and stare at the fight confused before reacting and it would end up in the sports headlines the following day, but in hockey people would just start to cheer louder when they'd see that two guys are starting to have a go at each other and people would afterwards just comment on the fight like they would on a boxing match.

I don't think within rugby people wouldn't react and just stand around shocked, it happens quite a bit but it's normally not as organised as the fights seem to in hockey, they tend to be more all on all rather than one vs one. I know particularly in the Welsh leagues there's fuck loads of fighting and it's normally a case of one in all in haha.

Yeah I've never seen that much rugby in my life but now that I think of your description of the huge rumbles with both teams and half the stadium involved, I guess they wouldn't be that shocking in rugby no haha.
