You don't if you're playing against someone that thinks it's just button mashing. Can have some really epic games when two people know what they're doing and it's a skilful game button mashers get ko'd in literally a minute or two.

lol @ suggesting a video game of two guys hitting each other in the head has anything to do with tactics/skill.
You just get in more hits than the other guy in a shorter time. It's that simple. Mike Tyson's Punch Out did it, Simpsons Wrestling did it, UFC Undisputed did it. I'm sure it's great fun though.

Biggest 'skill' you need is knowing which way to move to get into a good position on the ground. Don't try and make more out of it than it is. It's a good fighting game, not chess.
