adobe 6.0 question

okay my footage is really jerky in the editing screen, but when I save it to a mpeg or just export it in general it's fine

I have restarted my comp and everything

anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?

thats just how it is. processor only does a rough job for the preivew

yeah but I can't really pin point my audio if it's jerking like this, and my added soundtrack dosn't even show up untill I export it

depends on the complexity of the edited area, it may go slow in one spot where theres a ton a shit going on

adobe 6.0 is pretty lame at previewing stuff, 6.5 is a little better. and pro-pro 1.5 is tight but if your editing a 10 min video ull take up 10+ gigs of "conformed files"

it isn't called adobe. adobe is the company that makes software, premiere is the name you want. thats like saying man im having trouble with my microsoft right now

The answer to your question is once you've imported your footage, it gets conformed. This can take a few minutes depending on how long it is and it takes up quite a lot of cpu resource, that's why it will be jerky and the audio doesn't get shown till it's done. It should show you how long it is taking in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Plus, if you have a shit pc, this will probably make it hard to preview good quality footage.

Your computer cant handle the data rate of the video. There are options to make your previewing go smoother but im not sure what they are. I personally have never had that problem.

Anyone? That within the video there is footage in 16:9 and 4:3 both.

When you use 6.5 or later yo ucan export to MPEG and use tons of various setttings for the type of mpg file you want (vcd, svcd, dvd etc etc) and you can choose 16:9 or 4:3 in that, if that's what you mean.

The best way to deal with Premiere's crap realtime viewing is to just play it by pressing the right arrow key on your keyboard...it's mroe precise anyway...

I know that, but how can I make a videoclip thats in 4:3 but has section in middle with 16:9. I want both sizes on one clip.

maybe edit each seperately and recombine or something

Why don't you just crop to that aspect ratio?

Premiere should playback just fine when you are editing, the only reason it will look like shit is if you have unrendered stuff. Every time you fuck around make sure you press enter to render the whole timeline.

if you dont already, instead of using "play" button on the monitor, use the spacebar key when you are on the spot you want to start at

I never have this problem in 6.0. My video runs crystal clear without any problems.

In 1.5 pro though...my footage looks like shit...so I dont know what to tell you.

edit - you do realize you have to re-render everytime you make a change right? Instead of pressing play, press enter.
