anyone think of any features that may be usefull for dflms, they may be included in the deisgn to be released (hopefully) on halloween
so far chris and I have thought of
report video,
report piracy,
forum,
update featured video easier and more often for the admin,
hits today & hits overall, instead of just hits
download counts, today and overall,
better search engine, possible keyword entry to search
finish the browse section,

Forum should just link to HGF.
Maybe a section to login where people can keep all their vids in one place for people to look at? if that's possible it'd be cool.

Chris says hes cusomtizing a theme for ipb already, umm
a login system may be installed at a later time , but not for the halloween release lol.
and the sites design actually is cool this time

I was just saying, it'd make it easier to keep track of all your videos if you wanted to.

awesome idea ^
im not sure we can do categories in this one, because we would manually have to go through each already existing video, and decide what category it would be in, that would be alot of work going through 550ish videos,
we could just start doing them and just not inlcude the old ones at first, and each day do a few "old" ones and put them in their categories,
the new design shall be released on halloween hopefully, anyone else got any ideas
also, this design may inlcude a rating thing, only if I can pull it off though,

In my past experience, Karl, categories are a big pain, no matter how you work with it. Although not as vast, I tried categorizing my emails (gmail) and I thought it would come to use, but it just got in the way, so I took it all off.
Also, if it's a rating system you want, I have one, remember? The "Anthony Films Amateuristic Intensity Rating System" ? Perhaps I could be of some aide to this.
It can be found at
www.anthonyfilms.com, but note that it's not completely set up, so don't go there expecting to post a few inquiries.

Considering HGF has helped dfilms into initial success, and continues to support dfilms via users uploading, I think that would be a nice gesture.

of course gman, it will be done
and our system is sql based, not html lunarspotlight and its not for intensity rating, everything would prob be at 100+ for that, but for rating of goodness

no prob, hgf rawks, just noticed this is my 400th post

29 October 2005, 18:48 UTC#15
My system is not at all html based. It's like the one found on the online version of "Tony vs. Markyo" (found on disturbedfilms.com) but the splash screen will be better quality, since I've found a way to do that, and it will only probably be 3 or 2 seconds long instead of the 4 it is on mine.
And your concern for things being rated 100+, that's not true. It takes a LOT to reach that level. I have an Extremely detailed list that I have the judges rate by, and just taking a look at it now, the ratings would be lower than 100+. Comparitively, 100+ videos' content would be higher than R, which I doubt many of the videos would be rated at that level.
Near 100+ perhaps, but not at or above it. And even so, only one of the three options is only me rating the videos. There are 6 people that would be rating them, some of which are from the old "The Communicators" commitee. Again, I'll have more about it on the site soon.

the idea I had with the rss feed was like the one www.isohunt.com uses. have types that you can sellect in a drop down menu.... then when people upload it gets that type so if people like... Skits and they sellect skit then the skit RSS feed gets updated.
You can do this with just a number value in sql and the same number in the rss feed link...
29 October 2005, 19:24 UTC#17
Perhaps it's the actual names of the categories that may need to be a bit more planned out in order for the whole category system to be beneficial. Image file not present in the recovered backup
And if the system ever gets set up, you may want to monitor it somehow to see how often it's being used. It may not even be worth it. Or I could be completely wrong on that part.
29 October 2005, 20:05 UTC#18
RSS/XML/ is used alot now. Its old but cos of how simple it is its used... and most big sites use it some how now... I use it for everything... gmail, blogs, forums (Shame this place dont have it), news, technew... and more....
once you get used to it its a must... shame no HG groups use it... would be great to keep people checking your site and knowing when new vids are out.
I agree the cat system needs to be addressed more... maybe just one feed will be good. Depends on how big it gets.
I also had a idea... not really for users but yourself. Google has a new BETA siteap... would be great to get ALL the videos indexed quicker and get a better rank.
http://sitemaps.blogspot.com/ Its in use now if you dont know about it... easy to use also.

1.) allow porn
29 October 2005, 20:10 UTC#20
yeah man... ill sign up to that feed for sure.
29 October 2005, 20:34 UTC#21
The site name is Disturbed Films, not Illegal Films, or Hot Films, or X-Films, or something like that. Disturbed just concerns some people, "that" would turn the heads of more than just the site viewers. Disturbed is far enough, I think.
29 October 2005, 20:53 UTC#22
Also in Windows Vista, to be released at the end of 2006, the sidebar, has a way to choose an rss feed, if you ask me how I know this, I had a developers release of it, it was so cool, even though the gui wasnt even far, it was way better than xp though. The only problem that I see with vista is the need for high preformance computers, leaving some people in the dark
Back to the rss things,
People could put the newest videos on dfilms kidna thing on there site,
or once if ever the user system is up, they could show there groups videso only on their site.
and with the new server up, weak, it is allowed, as the upload page has been updated, taken off that statement..
29 October 2005, 21:00 UTC#23
Karl, honestly, allowed??? Image file not present in the recovered backup I know you're better than that, man. Why??? Image file not present in the recovered backup
29 October 2005, 21:40 UTC#24
Wtf, people want it to be allowed,
so be quiet
29 October 2005, 21:49 UTC#25
yeah when I beta tested Win64bit I got sent the Vista beta... kinda sucked... but yeah I love the RSS bar... I use one now called chrysanth... nice prob that worls like google bar/msn bar.
I also use the google homepage thing www.google.com/ig which rocks...
this will all take off when ista comes out and rss becomes the norm... so get it now and people iwll get used to it and the ones that are will switch to dfilms.
EDIT: Also another idea that I ws thinking about doing myself ages ago was a Info section that HG group owners use to let people know when DVDs, New videos and other things are updated. This way they get all your users knowing whne they update.
it would need to be setup so not anyone can use it and theres no abuse... but also hooking it up to its own rss feed would be cool too.
And a PHP link for PHP sites where they can put in new updates in BLOCKS on there site (ie: phpbb, phpNke,, postnuke, blogs, postnuke, IPB, VB) would be good for dFilms and nice for site owners to get updates for users.
29 October 2005, 22:05 UTC#26
the info for the groups would be a great idea,
another idea is to release content on the PPV area, so people can pay a little bit to watch a video from a supplier
29 October 2005, 22:09 UTC#27
yeah man. Good way to make more cash for HG groups.
if you did make the RSS feed I could work on custom blocks/MODS for portal sites for you if you needed help.
