Hypothetical Question Time!!!

Ok, this one will tell us who the real sick-o's are on this board.

Let's say video games get so advanced in the future, you play them in your head. (kind of like the matrix-type thing). So you KNOW you are playing a game, but it feels absolutly real. (there are no cheats, basic real life physics, always.)

Let's say they came out with "GTA: whatever" and you were free to roam a city, kill people, steal what ever, basically ANYTHING you wanted, and it was 100% real. The point of the game is to become a prolific serial killer.

How many of you would actually kill people?

Keep in consideration, that although you know you are in a game, and nothing is "real", it would feel absolutly real. The people would scream, bleed, and beg for their lives. All the blood and guts look, feel and smell just like real life. When you stab someone, you feel the blade scrape the bone.

How many of you could go through with something so grisly? And how far would you go? Snipering? Stabbing? Strangling? There are also kids in this world. Would you kill a kid too?

And don't give some lame "I'm a hard-ass" answer. Just try and imagine if you would/could stand the reality of doing that shit.

I could probaly kill like bad guys or somthing ,but if it as real as your saying I doubt I could kill a innocent person.

how though? I think I may be able to pull off explosions, and maybe snipering, but never up close.

I think if there would be games feeling real but aren't.. I'd just use it to see how things work.. to learn stuff.. to feel how it is to do certain things.. and yeah I'd guess I'd kill if its necessary.. you'd find out where your limits are.

id go on a rampage. id shoot people and steal cars load it up wth explosives and kamazee daycare centers, id take hostages and when the cops heed my demands id shoot the hostage and then the cops, it would be like a crazy war without neone dieing and u can respawn. morally its fucked up but id do it. I would be scared to get the thing implated in my head or something.

I dont think I could play it.... if it was like real killing and they had faces and everything felt100% real theres no way I would....

But if it felt so real and you could not tell any difference... How do you know your out of the game....

I think that itwill prob happen oneday... and I think that this sort of GFX will be out before I di....

But I guess its diff for us.... When our kids/kids kids grow up movies will be diff and games will be diff... and 18 movies will be PG/13

Just look at how far ratings have changed now... Movies dont really scare like they used too and them games wont.

I would, just beating someone to a pulp with my hands when I'm all stressed then leaving with no malice. I've always wandered what it's like to stab someone too. I never would but it it was a game I probably would.

Hell no, virtual reality GTA is a bad idea. Now if they have CPU's in you mind walking around so you could kill them instead of real people!

This is where I see games going. VR is going to happen sooner or later and once it does it will feel more real as the tech advances. I would def. do everything I could in the game, even though it feels real I know that it is just a game so I woulb be ok with it. But it would be very boring just killing innocent people, now the way you make it sound it would probally be a stealth game, so you try to kill people but keep a low profile and don't get caught, or you can leave a signature at every kill, (like pulling out there heart and nailing it on the wall) that way you would get more recognition in the news. It would be a pretty cool game.

I would love those things....crime would be cut down cause if you wanted to kill someone you could do it in a game and not in real life....im so down with it

In Metal Ger 3 they kinda talked about it. There was the VR training and it took away the fear of killing and made it so they did not think about the person....so in real life it was easy to do.

I think this would happen if this game did come out.... Kids would get into it and in the end would just think "Its fun... ill do it for real" or maybe not even really know it was wrong as they do it in games 12hs a day.

I think most of you dont realize that what b.j is saying that everything you'd do would feel 100% real... I bet most of you couldnt physically(upclose with melee weapon) or mentally be able to kill someone... and that's a good thing...

well, if it's a serial killer game, it puts you in their position.

Meaning you'd understand and have the urge to kill like they did, right?

It would make sense because the game would be like you were them.
