I stand by the belief though, Gold version and Silver version were the best pokemon games made so far.

It's a tough call for me, all the generations have different things that appeal over the others:

Red/Blue - nostalgia, back to basic gameplay
Gold/Silver - good atmosphere and music, totally immersive
Ruby/Sapphire - best region, loved the two opposing teams and the legendaries
Diamond/Pearl - polished tight gameplay, ridiculously long playtime

I can pick up Blue now and run through it without ever being bored. Still just as fun more than 10 years down the line.

Gonna have to go with Gold on this one. It was just a flawless game.

edit: then </3 when I swapped it for four discs of pirated final fantasy 8

the legend pokemon in ruby/sapphire are the best out of all of them, but gold was the first to do the night and day with different pokemon in the night. also after you beat one world you had to beat the old world from red/blue whole new adventure but nostalgia with the old pokemon and gym leaders.

ruby/sapphire didn't even do night and day, red/blue was great because it is the same gameplay for all of them and the nostalgia factor but I got used to the perks like playing new versions of football games and fighting ones. the whole egg thing introduced in gold and silver was brilliant.

they really need to use all the money they have been saving from not changing shit up graphic wise and do a 3-d pokemon final fantasy style. I'd play a 4 disc pokemon game easy, I know they say it's for kids but thats bullshit.
