Iphone/ipod Touch Hack?

anyone got any info on this?
heard about it a few times but got no real info on how it works, or how badly it can fuck up your iphone etc.

is it an iphone or ipod? I don't know much about jailbreaking an iphone, because apparently it's different and can fuck up your sim card. but as for the ipod it doesn't fuck it up at all, and if it does, you can restore it back to the factory default (or a back up) and it also does not void your warranty, no matter what anyone, or what you read says. this does not modify anything inside the phone/ipod.

first off, you might want to set aside about 2 or 3 hours. because the first time is very tedious, but once you understand the basics, it's easy to do again, or for a friend.

its an iphone.. I googled some stuff but its all just news stuff, no step by step or explaining..

I just got an iTouch. been on it for days, this is the first time ive used my actual computer besides putting music and apps on it.

the purpose of a jailbreak is you can customize it with backgrounds, icons and etc. but the most important is a program called installous, and it lets you download cracked apps that you'd normally pay 6 bucks a piece for =]

not sure how the iphone works, like I said. the ipod was easy, all I had to do was redownload the 2.2 firmware and reload it with itunes. I assume it's the same for the iphone, but I read somewhere that if you use the turbo sim card or whatever, jailbreaking it breaks the sim card completely. my advice is to research it. I spent like a day researching about my ipod, just incase. I did not want some 300 dollar technology sitting there that wouldn't even turn on.

He's right. I did a solid 3 hours of just reading and reviews and such. You want to read peoples comments. Pros and cons. Mine is working beautifully. The only reason I'm on my computer right now is because I don't know my log in for HGF. I can do everything I need from my iPod.

also if you click the appulous button there, you can download cracked apps and ssh it over onto your ipod/phone instead of downloading from their installous app. which is better imo. once you jailbreak, I'll tell you how to openssh on your iphone. it's just like ftp.

I have cydia too. Winterboard through Cydia or ICY gives you that background and shit. It's addicting. I have so much shit on mine now. Facebook/flickr/twitter/myspace/animoto. They have programs that combine ALL of your shit in one.

use cydia, you don't really need installer, it's the same as cydia, except everything uses cydia now. so you can just remove installer.

jailbroke my ipod touch, got bored of it the same day and restored it to normal. went to jailbreak my iphone but theres no point really.

why? you can put cracked games and apps on it. there's so much shit you can put on it.

I don't see why you wouldn't jailbreak it. I have hmdone nothing but benifit from it

theres only a few cracked apps that seem useful, and the fact that you can have apps running in the background, but thats about it. jailbreaking it slows down a lot of other things like sms which id rather not have just so I can play with a few cracked apps :S

I am downloading torrents right now. Have anoter app called iWeeds open which is streaming episodes, aim, facebook, twitter and more. No lag on my end at all. Even on hgf from it.

oh, I probably wouldn't jailbreak an iphone. I was talking about an ipod. gets boring after awhile just listening to music. a lot of the games are fun as fuck.

I wouldn't suggest doing it to the iPhone. iPod you can just reset. Iphone may fuck up easy. I found a jailbreak that doesn't delete anything on your iPod. Very easy.
