I think it's funny that America, with the most gigantic military (including nuclear) arsenal the world has ever known, is freaking out that some borderline Third World country is actually firing rockets around: something the US has been doing since the 1950s. Checked the definition of the word "hypocrite" lately? Just the way the article is written makes it sound like they need his permission or something: since when? I wasn't aware that Obama was elected president of the Far East as well.

It's like the American government is some kid on the playground who takes all the footballs and toys and shit, uses them quite happily and then beats up other, smaller kids, for bringing their own toys to school.

Yes, I agree that North Korea might not be entirely reliable when it comes to getting along peacefully with other countries, but the USA should consider its own situation: if it's going to be so against any form of long-range missile program then maybe disabling some of its own vast stockpile would be a good start.

Hey man. Sorry I linked the US's news. Japan had their missle turrets aimed towards the Sea of Japan and North Korea. A lot of countries in Asia were clinching their ass cheeks for a few moments.

NK wont do shit, cause if they do they would be totally fucked. China wouldn't put up with it as there so heavily invested in America at the minute they just storm in and reap havoc just to stop America starting another war.

Maybe soon SK can just be call Korea.

If I understand it, long range missile testing is against U.N rules these days, not just what America says. The countries that have missiles such as the U.s, Russia etc won't disarm till the others do so it's pretty much a catch 22 situation. And yeah I agree it is pretty hypocritical but I'd rather North Korea be punished as they really are not a nation I'd want to have nukes capable of starting WW3.

But in saying that, what matt said is true, they won't do shit, they would get fucked big time...they had to rely on Japan and the US to tell them how far the missile actually went as they don't have any radar capable of reaching as far as it travelled haha.

I just think this whole idea that "the nukes prevent wars by being a deterrent" is ridiculous. If you truly wanted to avoid a global thermonuclear conflict - or indeed, any type of war on an intercontinental scale - you'd just come to an agreement to disarm. Saying that "oh, only certain countries can be trusted with a nuclear arsenal" is fucking insane.

Agree completely, but it's not as easy as just all coming to agreement to disarm, even tho Obama has said he want's a world without nukes, it's never going to happen, even if everyone did come to an agreement you know for sure they would all still keep some somewhere. Like I said it's a catch 22 situation. Ideally, nukes would never have been invented but now they have been they are here to stay. May as well control them the best you can, letting countries like North Korea ,who are not exactly the most stable of countries, build up nukes isn't a good idea. Isn't there still shit loads of nuclear material missing after the soviet union collapsed? As hypocritical as it is, I can't exactly see America falling apart and all control over what nukes they do have lost, I can't say the same for places like N.Korea.

I completely agree with what skipper said, there;s no way at all that a cease fire or total disarmament would ever work. If it did it would be in a world where there is literally no wrong doing at all and that's just not human nature.

Ideally yeah the best way to prevent war is getting rid of all the weapons all together, however practically matching each other and causing a stalemate is.

Although then the problem is is that if it doesn't work to keep the peace then the world ends, rather than old school war fare happening again in the scenario where there are no weapons...

Don't get me wrong, I would never expect a total cease fire, I reckon there will always be infantry and mechanised war, I merely think that with the sheer destructive power of nuclear and other missile-based weaponry basically guaranteeing extinction if one is fired - leading to retaliation after retaliation until everything is Fallout 3 - it makes a LOT more sense to all agree to disarm.

But oh yeah, there will always be war on some scale, it's unavoidable. I'm not hoping for some land where they play Kum Bay Yah on the radio and people have forgotten what a gun is. I only think it's illogical that everyone having loads of nuclear weapons in order to "avoid war" is seen as being a better alternative to no nukes at all.

I'm going to start stocking up on bottle caps and purified water.

Yeah the way I see it is the way the world is at the moment that's the only practical solution for now haha.
