Why quit smoking?

Oh right, the money.

And the general health and extra years of life.

And your clothes won't smell like cig smoke. Although your car might already be a little stained with the smell if you smoked in there regularly.

But the money's gotta be a primary factor in any case. In Kentucky, we have a 1 dollar tax on every pack of cigarettes. Just a pack will run you an extra dollar on top of whatever the price is. I love it, because all of that cig. tax money goes directly to the schools. Such an awesome way to fund the education system. Tax the addicted.

Unfortunate reality is that the overwhelming majority of the people in my area who smoke cigarettes are also the least educated and at the lowest end of the income scale. So, we're over-taxing the poorest of consumers to fund an education system they don't have access to or influence over. Without the capacity or resources to go about stopping smoking, they're pretty much stranded on the Smoker's Island, paying a shit load of money for an addiction they can't kick, and funding the public schools system that clearly failed them in the past.

If they're so poor they shouldn't be smoking.

You sure the tax is going towards education? In Finland booze and cigarett related taxes are use for public health care. Which makes sense.

But then, your public healt care does suck? Never bothere to watch the Michael Moore doc about it, as its irrelevant for me.

I would'nt mind living 60 years instead of 70. I'm having a hard time seeing how people can have fun after they turn 40... It all seems so old and wrinkly.

Ha! Public health care doesn't exist in the US. Only for extreme circumstances. Like disability, old age, or extreme poverty.

Fuck the lack of public health care, if I get hit by a car I don't wanna reach my wallet with my mangled hand for having my life saved. What a fucked up system. Would rather have the standards lower but open to everyone.

Either way we have a nasty ciggy tax in ARK these days. Lots of people have been arrested for assaulting convenience store workers for "stealing money" thinking there trying to rip them. The money is going towards a new trauma center that isn't any were near us.

Next time someone says something negative about me smoking I'm gonna be like "Fuck you, I'm paying for your health care so little kids don't die in car accidents, you selfish fucking cunt."

In the UK we have 'free' healthcare (paid for with taxes). Means for complicated operations we pay fuck all.

Rack stuff, problem solved.

You'd still wait in the emergency room for hours in the states, pay for the diagnosis, pay for the treatment, and pay for any follow-up treatment. I've got no problem paying for it through a tax, rather that than paying a lump sum of thousands when I need a serious operation.

I dont see why I should have to pay the burden of everyone else who cant take care of themselves. in america a lot of people pay for health insurance or have private healthcare so it works out in the same way but on a more personal basis rather than paying for everyone elses problems.

If you have health insurance here you pay next to fuck all for stuff. Insurance is a bitch though, unless your job covers it then it usually cover's your family as well.

I'd rather everyone in the country pay for eachother. Although I would say that I've never had to pay taxes in my life in a job.

I spose man, but speaking as a selfish bastard who has always been likely to injure myself through my own stupidity I'd rather the state hold my hand. Socialism is definitley the way forward for me.
