I'm going to buy a GBA for some old school pokemon action.

I'm looking at Ruby, Saphire, and Emerald.

Anyone play these?

Fuck those, get FireRed or LeafGreen. They're remakes of Red and Blue and very well worth it, and there is a whole new area later in the game.

l2 read previous posts.

I can't give a second opinion, and add an extra fact to help persuade him? That's nice.

The trick is to have both versions, fuck up one with the missingo code, then trade all the leveled up pokemons to the other non fucked up version.

My bro's blue version took the hit for the team.

I was really into the cards and still have my binder of them back at home. Had the red verison game too. Spent hours upon hours on that game.

I remember when new kids would get into the cards at school I'd show them the ropes and scam the shit out of them at the same time. I scored a holographic Raichu from a kid by trading a Diglett. Good times.

The new Pokemon are gay.

How do you get them? Tournaments or something?
10 December 2008, 00:49 UTC#48
yeah when I was younger, id go to KB toyz, they would hold tournaments for a few hours every week, go in there, beat as many noobs as you can, take your score card to the counter guy, he stamps your booklet, once you meet to a certain amount, you earn badges and shit and packs, was sweet like that, same time I was into magic the gathering too.. but once a big contest came thew at the mall? the mall was for the big time dudes... I sucked and quit and kept playing magic, magic was cooler anyways.. and I still play it every now and then haha

Stole a packet from Woolworths at one of those pokemon days though and got an edition 2 Charizard which I still have for some reason. :S

I used to play the card game at a local game store on saturday mornings, won every time. Got me so many free cards. Ah, the days when you were a big shot, all the other kids kissing your ass like you were a king.

I traded a fake holograph Onix for that promo birthday card with Pikachu. Oh, how I laughed that day.

Considering you can only use the full version of that attack once a fucking year, you would expect it to be a little more powerful. As in "if it's your birthday, you deal 100 extra damage and you can feed all of your opponent's cards into a paper shredder".

I can totally imagine someone using that card at a tournament and being asked to show some ID to verify if it's actually his birthday.

Yeah, it's a pretty shitty card. I'm not even sure if you can evolve it into a Raichu(?) because of the weird name. I have some weird promo cards that says 'Flying Pikachu' and 'Swimming Pikachu', wich caused me some problems. I once used the birthday card though, and it was my birthday, and it worked.

That may have happened, not sure though.

The DS Version has a wi-fi battle and trading system.

Would be pimp to have a dude or two on here to go against.
