everything on this earth works together too perfectly to be part of some huge explosion. that theory just doesnt work for me.

ill go ahead and say that a lot of my religious views have changed from when I went to rehab. and as bad as the reputation is on this board about it, I am a sunday church attending christian. there are a lot of misconceptions about christianity, but I found out that most of the stuff you see on TV about christians, and the way most christians act are not what the bible teaches.

im not going to try to convert anyone on this board, and I dont claim to be perfect. thats one thing I hated about the christian church today. I felt that by living in the bible belt of america, I am forced to follow the rules that God made. but I understand that that isnt what a lot of people want to hear.

now, can I give you substantial evidence to prove God's existence? no, im pretty new at this and I can answer fairly few questions. but if there is an afterlife, I would rather work to get to it, than not work for it and end up screwed.

I dont think of just earth from the big bang, I thing of everything ever... and 99.99% of shit doesnt work perfectly,

you have planets that are to cold/hot to host life, stars will always die (and when our sun blows in another 3.5billion years its taking us all with it) and black holes eat shit up.

we are very luck to have the "goldie locks effect" .. its not to hot, its not to cold. so I dont think things work perfectly.


and on the other hand, if there was a god, why the fuck arent people "working so perfectly", why doesnt he/she/it show itself and show there is only one god, so ppl stop having ways of gods.

that could be for a reason. if people trash the planet that God gave us now, why should He give us the opportunity to go screw up another planet?

but yeah there are a lot of problems, but with plants replenishing our oxygen supply, and humans having all the resources to continue life on this planet, its hard to believe that all of our existence happened by luck.

and why should stars live forever? people die, and we accept that. why cant we understand that a ball of burning gases run out?



if God just showed himself, that would ruin the whole faith aspect. I feel that if there werent any doubts about Christianity, it wouldnt have had the impact that it has on me, or anyone else for that matter. every true Christian has doubts, and without that I dont feel people would grow in their faith.

There is nothing more than that. I know people can't accept the end being the end, but get over it because you'll throw your life away waiting for something which will never come.

I really don't believe in formalized religion in that it causes so many fucking problems. I mean, there are the civil smart people who quietly to themselves use it as a way to better their life as a set of moral standards and whatnot, but then you have the idiots who take it all to the extreme and start blowing people up and shouting about how God hates fags. It's really ridiculous. So yeah, I really think the world would be a better place without religion in MOST respects.

I voted not sure, cause I really don't think there is this big creator person. I think we're just like the Egyptians before us. They worshiped everything that gave them something or did something for them that was like... a natural occurrence. Something they couldn't do themselves. Sun, water, etc. But we just took this and made it into one being. And as for Jesus, I believe he was a good man who was trying his best to bring peace and prosperity to people who were a little less than good. However, I think he was just that, a man. All he had to do was be good at slight of hand and have a few willing people that wanted to better the world at his side. He was pretty much a street magician. If you think about it, pretty much anything back then might have been impressive. If you pulled a coin from behind someone's ear they'd burn you as a witch or something. Lol. But yeah, he was pretty much their day's David Blaine. And he did die so that people would wake up and see that they were living less than wholesome lives, but the only people who claimed to have seen him resurrected were the apostles who were striving to kick off the same religion as he was. It's a hard pill to swallow, but I also believe that there's gotta be SOMETHING that is the life source for everything and whatever lies beyond as far as we can see with telescopes, but we just haven't discovered what it is yet. Something is keeping everything going. Whether it be a being or just electrical current, it's what's referred to as God.

that is a real problem today. thats why I didnt agree with a lot of things about religion until recently. but most religions call for people to be civil and use it for themselves, but be open to spread their beliefs if the time calls for it. but I like to see myself as a civil person that uses it for my personal well being, and is open to share, but only if it is wanted.

of course its luck... there are a billion billion ... (I can keep going) planets, and we are just 1 planet. one of them has to have the right level of heat/water etc to make plants that in turn make oxygen, that in turn let evolution happen.


Also what happends if everyone on earth was good... and god liked us all.... but still the sun is going to stop... and we all die... why would he do that (unless his likes a laugh)

how do you know that there isnt any life on those billions and billions of planets? the only one that they have studied close enough to be sure is mars.

God or any religion for that matter is a lot more than just explaining where the universe came from. I dont think this topic should be about creation, because at the end of the day, they are all theories. I can't answer all your questions about creation, just as im sure you cant answer all the questions I could think of for quantum physics. and I dont know a lot of things about creation because I wasn't there. I just know what I believe, and like I said before, im new at all this. I dont know a lot about the bible, surely not enough to answer all your creation questions.

and if everyone on earth was good, and the sun stopped burning, then there would be nothing to worry about, because there is an afterlife where none of this will matter.

oh yeah dude im 100% with you on that as even the big bang was only came out after some one test another theory and found it to be wrong and the new theory was born. So everything is based on theories ... its just that the big bang in the most tested one to date... so thats the one Im sticking with, but one day we might find out it was a big crush of an old system that forced us into our big bang.

Yeah man, seriously? I don't see how people can believe in the afterlive and stuff like that. It was written thousands of years ago by people who didn't have a fucking clue.

I feel I have a pretty balanced view on the matter. I was baptized and raised as a catholic, went to a catholic school and my family would visit church a couple times a month. Then I moved onto secondary school and was surprised to see how few kids were actually religious. Studying philosophy of religion really opened my eyes to the many arguments against the existence of God and it made me uncomfortable at how openly I'd accepted religion as a kid.

You can tell kids anything at a young age, they won't question it. I think introducing kids to religion is wrong and they should be able to make a decision when they are old enough.
