Why People Say We Are A Jackass Rip Off?

Ok bare with me folks, this is going to be a bit of rant. Over the years various people on Video sites, the NEWS and various talk shows only have one thing to say everytime. " Jackass Copy Cat" Ok, for those that don't know anything about this genre, is that it has been around for years and where do you think Jackass was concepted from. We will go back in time to the silent era when sound wasn't the key importance to film. A man by the name of Buster Keaton invented stunts in films to how we know them today. A lot of like minded started taking those and turning them into more. We jumped to the 90's. Shows like Super Dave Osborne, MTV's BuzzKill, Tom Green in 1995 airs originally. There is a groups of Canadians that had the Whiskey Video series that started mid 90s which featured Boozy the clown and several pro skaters and snowboarders. Then we have Kingpin Productions who were the American version of Whiskey.It featured Dave England and J2. 1996 The Dudeson's were formed. Bam in 1998 first shows off his stunts in Toy Machine's Jump off a Building. Which later sprung into his CKY series. Big Brother has their 3 DVDs then decided to take Knoxville and Weeman from there. Bam from CKY, Dave and Ehren from Kingpin, and Steve O from the circus. Now 2000 rolls around and Jackass season 1 airs. All of these like minded individuals realized there is a market for their material that they has accumilated over the years. We start seeing a burst of these homegrown groups. Only few which remain in this genre due to the criticism and lack of knowledge on the genre. It's something you have to have the love and passion for and despite all the negativity one could face, you still pursue cause good things will come, and in SPDST's Case it has.

jackass was written for TV - so much cant be shown on DVD - I was in this for making films, if TV happens then its bonus. But have of the shit these days you cant air on tv. So the best is always on dvd. Anyone who started solely after jackass just to do stunts I agree, but so many out there or were out there that have been around since the beginning that have a different concept but falls under the same special interest genre

The Critics are the people who have only seen jackass and have never seen any of HGF stuff. I have been critsized by so many people calling jackass wannabes, that it is starting to piss me off.

I think you've got to accept thats how people see doing stupid things on camera. as 'jackass type videos' never going to change
