I'm a drummer going on 11 years now, but guitar is just a passion of mine. My mom taught me a few chords a long time ago and I've taught myself pretty much the rest. I took lessons on and off for about 6 months, but decided it wasn't for me.

Here's my guitar (Ibanez IC300 Iceman):



I also have an acoustic and another generic Ibanez I bought off a buddy for 50 bucks cause he wanted to get rid of it. I love to make up my own stuff. I'll record some of my shit some day.

I am an iceman myself. I went cheap though, ICX-120. I wouldnt trade it for a gibson.

Blargh, where did you host the mp3 of your recording? I just recorded a quick song and wanted to get it online

You essentially there , the progression is G, C9, then a suspended 4th D chord.

A----0
E----0

Basically what you said except the D is a suspended version.

It was only $225 and I've had it for almost 3 years. It's amazing for the cost. It's definitely the most comfortable guitar I've played. The only difference is that my headstock is black.

I got mine from a baser. its prolly stolen.

I know nothing about guitars, although I used to play bass at one time. lol

How do I learn to sing and play at the same time? Every time I try I either synch my singing with my strumming or my strumming with my singing. Usually the latter. And it sounds like a mess.

Oh and I learnt to play Looking Back on Today by The Ataris last night. I'm a sucker yup

I don't know, not everyone is good at sining and strumming in unison, find which one you're better at and get another more efficient person to preform the other vocals or guitar.

just keep trying it and youll get it. some people learn how fast, some take a while. just keep practicing.

I'd start by learning really basic songs with easy strumming and singing, and once you can do that easily, work up to more complex songs. Work on singing and strumming separately so you can do them individually really well, then begin working on putting them back together

I dunno man, I've been trying to sing and play for awhile, and the only song I can do it on is 'jesus don't want me for a sunbeam', and that's cause it's easy as piss.
I think some people have the ability and some just don't. I reside in the latter category.

The first one is an Ibanez IC300 Iceman and the other is a Dean Custom Zone.

ah, I love the iceman series from ibanez. ive got an icx-120. a cheaper version, but its got helluva chunky sound. sounds nice through my 5150 head and mesa oversized cab.

it's taken me a few years to get the hang of singing and playing at once.. now I can sing to almost anything I can play..
Im not a real machine on guitar..as I play punk mainly but umm yeh wooooooooooo I need a new guitar and shit so I can start a new band when I move.

Any tricks and tips you could share cuz I wanna play punk tooo

yeh start simple. Learn to play really simple songs, NoFX have some great ones, because they have soooooooooo many short, simple songs they are generally great to learn.

Linoleum is really easy. Try playing it a little slower, even like acoustic style if it helps.
Another easy one, which is real short is Stranger than fishin.. there's plenty more but you get the point.

But yeh, the easiest shit to sing is some of the slow soft rock crap.. generally you're playing it a little more simple than the band plays it, or even just playing the chords but yeh.. like

Creep- Radiohead
Ben Harper/the verve- The drugs don't work
Metallica -Nothing else matters
and almost anything by Nirvana

blah yeh I don't know if that is any help

but yeh just learn the shit out of any song, once you can play it with your eyes closed you'll be pretty right to sing it.

Apart from that all I can say is try singing and making up shit as you go, it gets you out of thinking too much about what you're actually playing, loosens you up a bit.. I found it really made me a better player.. mainly because I could fuck up and improvise a heap better..
