It's just now Halloween for the States. Where/when did Halloween originate?
31 October 2006, 14:44 UTC#15
Halloween is a tradition celebrated on the night of October 31, most notably by children dressing in costumes and going door-to-door collecting sweets, fruit, and other treats. It is celebrated in parts of the Western world, most commonly in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Puerto Rico, and with increasing popularity in Australia, New Zealand, as well as the Philippines.
Halloween originated as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain with Irish, Scots, Welsh and other immigrants transporting versions of the tradition to North America in the 19th century. Most other Western countries have embraced Halloween as a part of American pop culture in the late 20th century.
there you go.

31 October 2006, 14:47 UTC#16
Well, there you go, yet another tradition stolen from Great Britain. I think the only tradition America has that's America's is Independence Day and the Hotdog Eating Contest. And the filthy Japs are stealing that from us.

The Halloween as you know it today was actually originated from American culture.
The majority of people actually think Halloween is a load of shit around here.
31 October 2006, 16:58 UTC#19
Really? In which case, nice thread.
Edit- Just kidding, and KyD, I don't celebrate Thanksgiving in November, I celebrate it in July, on Trail of Tears Day.

31 October 2006, 17:21 UTC#23
I have always enjoyed october 31st; free candy when I was younger, and I can scare small children now I'm older

31 October 2006, 17:23 UTC#24
I guarantee we won't get any trick or treaters.

All that rohypnol in the chocolates for nothing.
31 October 2006, 17:25 UTC#25
OMG WEBBY HOW COULD YOU!?
31 October 2006, 17:25 UTC#26
Haha, there was a dude in my town that handed out pot brownies one year, funny as shit. I don't think he's even allowed in Ohio anymore.
31 October 2006, 18:36 UTC#27
I'm having a fun halloween, I'm at work, hoping for my boss to let me leave early. I went to ship something at the post office and my receipt totalled $6.66

I really want to go out and create mayhem, but I can't think of anything to do or film.
Someone give me a spur of the moment idea to take with me when I meet the guys in a bit.
31 October 2006, 18:46 UTC#29
Fuck Halloween. A perfectly cool holiday designed to scare the shit out of everyone with mysticism is hijacked by the Americans and made into a night where small children beg for food without doing jack shit. We have enough of those in Ethiopia, we don't need them on my street thanks. Any kids that come to my door tonight better be expected a bag full of buggery.
31 October 2006, 18:48 UTC#30
I will NOT answer the door for trick or treaters.
