I am beginning production for a game entitled "Homegrown".
Basically, it is going to be an RPG game - very basic, is it will be my first RPG. The goal of the game is much like any other RPG game - fight, level up, collect characters, kill boss characters, etc.
However, since it is based on homegrown, it will have a cool twist that no other game (to my knowledge) has.
Basically, I would like to take different people from the homegrwon communities (maybe a couple from each group), e.g. Evil-Webby, Vode, etc. who do stunts int heir homegrown videos, and make them a character in the game.
The lead character of the game will not be someone from the homegrown community - it will just be some random guy who is going to play the role of producer, and the person playing the game can rename to whatever they want.
This lead character will venture around a make-believe world, where the different homegrown community members will be hiding. When you find a character, you can get them to join your party. You may have to complete a task to get them to join, or do something else along those lines - I haven't worked out all the details yet - but at any rate, you will be able to get characters to join your party. Each of these members (all from HGF) will come equipped with missions - e.g. (1. Find a skateboard. 2. Find a skate park 3. Find a grind rail etc.) They will also have video clips which correspond to the missions. So with the previous example, the clip that this person has would be a skating clip which takes place in a skatepark. When you complete the mission, as long as you have already found a camera, you can "film the clip", and the clip gets added to your video inventory.
You will basically navigate the world in this manner, collecting characters and clips, until you have accomplished some ultimate mission - at which time, you will bring all of your video back to the studio, and you will compile them into a clip.
The game itself will then (hopefully; if I can pull it off) render the clips into a single clip, which you can upload, share, watch, enjoy, etc.
Enemies in the game will consist of police, random hooligans, disliked members of the HGF forums (can anyone say MOODY??), etc.
Thats about it for my description, off the top of my head.
So give me your opinions, as the homegrown community, as to what you think about this idea. Offer any suggestions to make the game more insteresting. Let me know if you would be willing to help with the project; if you would be interested in having your footage featured, etc. I will probably need a graphic artist at some point - and I know people here can do that. So if you are interested in helping with anything, let me know.
Btw. As of right now, I don't intend for this game to be spectacular enough to make money off. I have never made a game of this scale before, so I expect it to look like a game made by someone who has never made a game before. So I wouldn't expect any monetary kick-backs from donating work/footage. More or less, its something to amuse the people on these forums - and hopefully it will be amusing.
