Calvaire (Eng. The Ordeal)

A seriously freaky movie about a french guy whose car breaks down and he's left stranded in a village full of fucked up inbreds. I won't spoil it but take a look at this scene and you'll get an idea of the effed up atmosphere in the movie:

edit: And I finally saw Sunshine last night and was a little disappointed. I think it was directly comparable to Event Horizon and was easily the weaker of them two.

Really? I much preferred how they worked psychology into Sunshine, like, having the crew weigh their lives against the future of the planet and the different ways that they coped with that responsibilty.

I think in that sense I found the characters and the movie as a whole stronger than most in its genre.

I think it had mostly to do with my high expectations again because I had waited to watch that movie since it came out but never found time to watch and then when I finally did it wasn't as good as I expected. For instance I would have hoped the villain or whatever you would call it to be something else than sunburnt mexican starship captain, but maybe I was expecting it to be too much like Event Horizon which I liked a lot again.. :)

My Own Private Idaho by Gus Van Sant.. really good for a movie without a plot.

Quid Pro Quo.. I liked it a lot, it's about people wanting to be paralyzed. Shit like that really exists so I found it interesting.

Would you say it was a disaster of a movie?

I would say just that. I said the same thing when I saw the first preview for it. I'm like: "How can you seriously try and put faith behind something literally called Disaster Movie." It was such shit. Seriously, the goodness of the "_______ Movie" movies ended after Scary Movie 2 when the Wayans brothers left and they started making them PG-13. Now they just try way too hard.

Granted "Date Movie" had some moments, but that was all.

Every movie that has a title ending with the word Movie should be avoided. That should be common knowledge after the first dozen Scary Movies had come out
