Anyone want to explain to me just what the fuck happens at the end of Battle Royale? And why, in the beginning, did they show the "winner of Battle Royale" some girl that was all bloodied and sadistic looking? Was that an unrelated BR? Or was it supposed to be like anachronistic, like a Tarantino trick? I was so lost at the end of that film. And, in the version I saw, when that one crazy girl (whom I thought was shown at the beginning) the one that hung the two girls and killed a lot of other people, and was killed by the guy that volunteered to come back just to kill. Well, when she got killed, the subtitles read "Girl #14 Mitsuko, Dead?" With a question mark. I was so lost, because I thought she was the girl shown at the beginning and that she ended up winning, so it'd make sense if she wasn't really dead. Get what I'm asking? Help me, KANE/LIAM.

The creepy winner at the beginning was indeed from a previous BR; the one directly preceding the events of the movie, I believe; and unrelated to the main storyline.

At the end; Kawada, Shuya and Noriko escape the island, but Kawada succumbs to his wounds on the way to the mainland. Both Shuya and Noriko survive.

Girl #11, Mitsuko (as you corrected, haha) is killed by Kiriyama. She gets shot, and survives due to her bulletproof vest, and plays possum in order to attack; but he's wearing kevlar too, and finishes her off. I don't remember seeing any question mark when she dies; but yeah, she is definitely and decisively killed.

I had never heard the saying "plays possum" until yesterday when I actually saw a possum. I seriously thought it was dead, but it wasn't!

I disagree, it was terrible, and there wasn't even a good twist. The best part was the black people sitting next to me, their reaction to my laughter when the (SPOILER) video of the pedophile was being shown and his legs got cut off was just priceless.
