Started off good, could have cut out the long shots of nothing and saved 20 mins but w/e. Loved how they totally bashed religion and no one has protested it yet.

I think if loads of people enjoyed the film then people might have protested. Unfortunately it's highly missable.

I guess it's "gay" in the sense it's primarily aimed at kids like a lot of animated films...but there are several lol parts, and the story is one of the most creative animated films in ages. But yeah, it's a kids film but there's a kid in all of us...[Insert Ray Joke Here].

Far be it from me to detract from all the positive reviews but to be perfectly honest I know nothing about it. I haven't even seen a trailer. I just know it's about a floating house, some old guy and a fat kid. It never even interested me until everyone started going "zomg epic movie I almost baww'd".

In conclusion, I will see it, it just surprised me how overwhelming the response to it has been.

It's great, one thing I disliked was the womens (katies) face at the end . But overall I Loved it.

Speed Racer - actually ended up being really entertaining. Got off to a bit of a shaky start considering the ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD is made out of rainbow-sherbert-coloured CGI and there's a lot of bullshit talking about dreams and fixing cars and corporate sponsorship zzzz. But then Speed actually starts doing some racing and enjoyment levels pick up until the end of the flick.

The racing sequences were extremely well done, as long as you're prepared to suspend your logic and accept that it is, at heart, a fantasy film and therefore 99% of the shit they pull is completely impossible. Emile Hirsch does his best with a non-serious role and really creates a likeable character in Speed. The climactic race is, styliscally and visually speaking, awesome; and lots of fun to watch.

While not an instant classic for the Wachowskis like Matrix was, I can't deny that I enjoyed Speed Racer eventually, after nearly giving up on it at the start. Not bad for a family flick.

What's it like?

5 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Still too much bickering going on with Larry David, but I thought I'd download the new season because I heard that the Seinfeld cast was going to be on it.

Haha yeah that was the last one I watched. I don't think there's anything embarassing with being beat by Rosie O'Donnell in a fight though. She's scary in a "I can outrun her easily" type of way, but if I stop running I will suffer a horrible death..

Paranormal Activity - I had very high hopes for this movie, so in all fairness I was setting myself up to be disappointed. A lot of the scenes in the flick were awesome, namely my favourite near the end of the flick where the haunting turns violent that turned my entire fucking body ice cold; a definite highlight. It's easy to see the writers really thought about how to portray this haunting without letting the movie get too dull, and there's some truly great moments. Micah's failed attempt at the ouija board - without going into too much detail - is another chilling scene.

Unfortunately, the movie seemed to slip into a routine of the couple moping around in the day talking about the problem - and every day the girl would be worrying and the guy would be confidently assuring her of their safety while openly insulting the spirit. This happens in pretty much every scene. Then the mood shifts to night and we get to see the haunting scenes. The atmosphere in these sequences is built up perfectly, and you creep yourself out anticipating what terrible event is going to happen. But these sequences tend to be over way too fast, despite being genuinely creepy and very well acted. The actress playing Katie really threw herself into the role and as a result she makes everything that much more believable.

Then we come to the ending and the whole thing falls apart. Now, I watched the version Ray provided, which is the original cut of the movie and has a different ending to the cinematic cut which has just gone out. Even so, I've seen synopses of both endings and I can safely say, they're both awful. The ending I watched was so rushed and so out of character for the rest of the movie, which had spent so long building up tension and mystery, and then it just ruined it with a slapdash plate of cheese. In all seriousness, I thought to myself while watching, "if x happens it'll be really shit". Then it did. It was a shame that such an atmospheric and chilling movie let me down at the last hurdle and failed to leave me with any lasting impression, because all I could think of was how poor the ending was.

So, in other words, up to the last ten minutes Paranormal Activity was a fresh and interesting take on horror (maybe I'm biased because I love video camera movies) and has plenty of scenes that really got inside my head and scared the shit out of me. I'd give it 7/10.

Oh no, it had no effect on the movie. They just decided to make a more "appealing" ending for the cinematic version.

word, if it wasn't for the hype I would totally overlook it.

Saw defiance again, lots of great moments to make inappropriate jokes.

it's pretty slow paced, and to be honest, I think it very much depends on the person watching it. There's very very few in-your-face scary moments, it relies more on your imagination and clever tricks like quiet sounds and whispers that you might miss.

I recommend it, it's only 100ish minutes long, but those wanting the Ghostbusters showing up and firing around lasers with huge explosions and a massive CGI monster will be sorely disappointed.

I dont like the cgi horror flicks, but The Ghostbusters is The Great.

I nearly lost it when some jackass had listed Ghostbusters 2 as a prime example of a bad sequel. That's all.

Funny Games - urrrrrrggh stinking pile of shit, and I like Tim Roth. Slow as constipation and twice as painful to watch.

Tim Roth's American accent made me cringe: if you can't do it, then just be a British guy in America. In the scene where he calls the police he was focusing more on acting scared than his accent and it's literally horrendous. Minus points right off the bat.

You can see the director tried really hard to make a revolutionary movie, even going so far as to say "it's not a horror movie, but a social commentary about violence in the media". What a load of pretentious wank. Everything reeked of being overdone, like the constant breaking the fourth wall, the prolonged set-up with the wannabe Tarantino realistic dialogue, the long still shots later in the flick, it was all unnecessary and felt like it was shoehorned in. And oh god, don't get me started on the rewind scene, fucking hell. Any interest I had in the movie crashed and burned after that.

It was boring. Dull, dull, dull. I didn't give a shit if the family lived or died. Oh, and brilliant use of cinematography: whenever something violent happened, 90% of the time it was off camera, with the focus being on someone else's terrified face. Even the premise was limp: I was expecting a bunch of torturous and sadistic games to last all night, not just Naomi Watts getting naked and then an eeny-meeny to decide who dies. That's it? Way to have nothing of real substance whatsoever in your movie.

Also, I'm well aware that it's a remake of a German movie of the same name, but since the American version is a shot-for-shot adaptation by the same director, I think it's safe to level the same criticisms against both of them. Never watch this, ever.
