The ''Last Movie You Watched'' Thread

I liked the changed ending, made a lot more sense than the novel. I reckon a lot of people who hadn't read it would have kicked up when the original ending happened, 'cause it is a bit out of nowhere. The movie ending still got all the important facts dead on, they only changed how it was presented, really.

Dave Gibbons approved the rewrite and even drew up storyboards for it, so anything given the thumbs up by the original artist can't be all bad.

It's like Children of the Corn mixed with Invasion of the Body Snatchers with a little bit of Hollyoaks.

heres a horror movie. the day the islams took over britain and stoned all the fine bitches with there titties out (lots of room for violence against naked women).

the protagonists are two scene kids turn skin heads to save there country, it's a mix of 28 days later and red dawn.

eventually an osama bin laden with tentacles and sweet acid breath is assembled from the dead bodies of slain islams.

eventually they learn that love is the only thing that can stop the islams and the band Rush does a live concert for tentacle obama and he decides to go to back to his home country and learn the guitar (inspired by rush obviously).

a lil' obvious I know, but what do you gain with subtle plot lines?

Edit: I loaned the book to my mom, but I'm pretty positive the book ends with roshacs journal in the new fontiersman's inbox.

I was just agreeing with you, haha. I wondered what "ending" you were talking about that you didn't like, and just assumed you meant the altering of the master plan. The actual end itself with the dorky guy and the journal is identical. It's just to imply that there can never be true peace, because there will always be a small chaotic element to disrupt the system.

But does he really lose? I mean (without giving too much away) Rorschach is the only one among them who remains truly good, without compromise. If anything he's the greatest hero of them all.

Could go either way. It's long as, so take into account the possible boredom factor. It does pick up as it gets going, the first 90 mins is a lot of exposition and stuff. End of the day, it's a superhero/drama movie, so if Girl likes either genre, you should be cleared for landing.

truly good? nothing about Rorschach could really be described as "good" besides his concept of what is wrong.

the whole point of ozzymadis offing people but still saving the world even though he hated killing, didn't he make a big sacrifice? besides of course the argument he blamed it on john, but thats the only way it would have been believable.

john I think is a metaphor for the fear in god that keeps people from flipping out horribly.

also was real weird how I was waiting to see if they were gonna show john's dick like they did in the book under exaggerated, instead gave him swinging pipe. which I funny to me because when they did that silk spectre II love scene I was like "alright already they fuck lets break out Rorschach".

this movie had so many deeper issues than just action that I think the action parts took away from the movie imo, the purely fighting scenes I mean not the bloody gore stuff that was great.


also what Rorschach was planning on doing I don't think was totally right, and just because he didn't compromise doesn't mean he was right either, it just meant he was so arrogant he believed he was constantly right, like adrian veidt. it's so hard to tell who actually cares in the fucking story though you know?

they all become heros but none of them are really heroic.

night owl II is only powerful when he is in his suite or beating up people, thats the only time he can get a boner. not that heroic.

rorschach constantly says how much he hates the city, it seems the only reason he gets involved in a serious way is because he fears the killer is going to attempted an attack on his life next. not because he cares about people or is a hero.

silk specter II was just trying emulating her mother's foot steps.

john was just john, trying to figure out how things worked with a passing interest in human affairs.

so funny how because the comedian was gov. he was so "heroic" in the publics eye, the movie has so many layers of irony and satire all tied up in a nice little action hero movie.

The punisher : war zone

I have mixed feelings about this,it was a solid action flick but as a fan of the comic alot of small things bothered me.Like the casting of newman as microchip was fucking stupid,and how they treated some of the characters really bugged me.

For example when they mash Budiansky and Soap into one character and the new Budiansky is some hardcore fbi negro,and Mcginty is turned into a shitty excuse to put some parkour in the movie,and Pittsy is changed from a rage driven maniac into a mellow laidback hitman.

watchmen - really good. awesome cinematography, will read the graphic novel at some point.

I'll set you it when Jess is finished with it. An amazing read, 'cause there's so many subtle touches that they just couldn't translate onto the screen. I really enjoyed the movie, definitely did the novel justice.

Really enjoyed it, however I would've loved to know more about the monster, as in, what the fuck is it and where did it come from. The characters were well played I thought, albeit not very bright, but what can you expect from a bunch of 20-something year old yuppies.

I especially liked the 'handy-cam' style cinematography. It seemed to add a touch of realism.

word, it felt like real natural right? I felt if you didn't read the book it could be a bit overwhelming but it was a real nice idea to sum things up quickly.

The Chumscrubber - Some weird but rather enjoyable movie about drug abuse in the suburbs. Good cast. Glenn Close is creepy as fuck. A bit like Brick.. only not really at all.

Prozac Nation - Good movie, based on a self-biographical book w/ same title. Christina Ricci was good. Would watch again.

Far Side of the Moon - Looked promising but it turned out to be a Canadian piece of crap.

Man with the screaming brain... Dissapointing, even if it did star a god amongst men, Bruce Campbell. It just meandered about with no real purpose.

I'm hanging to watch Watchmen, but I'm kinda tentative as I was a massive fan of the Graphic novel when I was a kid... And I don't wanna see a giant blue wang up on the screen. I'm going to a Q&A with zakk wylder next saturday, curious to see what he has to say.
Rorschach better live up to my expectations though...
