Here it is... I hope you guys enjoy the new trailer. It's different than the other trailers and it goes with the theme that Mr Safety mentioned yesterday, that you guys do this stuff for love, not the money. But of course the money is always nice and we'll be making plenty of that soon enough.

The next Homegrown Collection DVD will have deeper songs like this rather than just mainly punk style music. I want to make the DVDs a little more artistic based with some cool sounding music that really elevates the feeling of the video.

The video can take up to 3-5 hours to process at most but it will likely be on youtube in about 1 hour. You will be able to find the video uploaded in my youtube profile at...

http://youtube.com/profile?user=slowdive626

So just keep checking my profile until it gets posted and then post the link to the video directly into this thread. I'm heading out right now for a little bit so hopefully the video is processed before I am back.

If you guys want to submit footage for The Homegrown Collection Volume # 2 and # 3 DVDs, contact me and lets make it happen.

Edit: Video

I liked the footage. Was basically music with clip by clip. Nothing special. Liked seeing some of the old clips though.

Keep updated on your shit moody, it's done.

I thought that music was ok for the beginning I guess, but it would have been better if faster rockish type music was used when it changes to color.

in my opinion.. going for the artistic side is not going to be pulled off with this footage, that's just what I think. there's a difference between art, and this type of behaviour.

Yeah, nothing special at all, was really damn slow, which is ok, it's different, but noting new, maybe a few of the clips could of been cut down, although I think you got that right feel.

But yeah, the start was pretty ace, but after that it dragged on abit I think, but I liked it.

it probably dragged on because it is a long trailer. I had to stretch out the trailer long enough to get to that chorus of "this is no ordinary love" so it wasn't easy but really hard either.

So why that song? Why not a song that flows with the type of footage. The beginning was good, but then it started to get annoying. Clashed with the footage.

I liked the song and even though she isn't singing about teenagers doing insanely crazy shit, the lyrics and theme of the song can be applied to the footage. im tired of using just rock and rap. I want to change things up a bit.

So....if you were doing a documentary on say...the war in iraq. Would you use...Sisco's "Thong song"? Because you were tired of using war type music?

Not trying to fight, just trying to understand.

totally different situation but if I shot a war documentary and I showed footage of women stripping at some iraqi whore house, I would use the thong song.

was the best thing iv seen done by you, but the editor got lazy and half the footage was out of time with the song.

That trailer wasn't anything different though.

I mean in HG, people don't just use punk/rock music, I dunno what I'm tryna say but I could name a few people here who could of made that trailer awesome.

It could of been 10 times as better, for someone who has never seen any of the footage before would of stuck it out and watched it all of the way through.
Although theres alot of people who don't even know editing exists, and it doesn't matter to them, but either way.

Well, here's my honest review of the trailer.

Music was by: Sade "No Ordinary Love" 1992

OK, the beginning of the trailor looked cool.. it was like a nice calm intro before the storm.. but unfortunately the storm never came. A little more upbeat music could have been used with some faster, "flashier" editing.

If I was to edit this video with primarily this song.. I would use a lot of greys mixed with mono tone blues to bring the emotional touch of the music to the screen. Yet unfortunately, the problem lies in the is song itself. It isn't all that fitting to the content of the video. I understand the artistic point of view that the trailor was supose to portray, but it just slightly missed the mark.

All in all.. it is the best trailer I have seen from Moody so far (judging by what's on his website and youtube).

Moody, if your going to use a trailor for your TV commercials.. I wouldn't suggest this one.

Here's a DVD trailer that I found that you could use as a base for the HGC trailer. This is type of editing and music would work great for HGC. Keep the cuts short and the audience will get the idea there there is A LOT of footage on the DVD.. if you drag out the footage (like the "No Ordinary Love" trailer) then the audience will feel like they've seen it all. Tease them.

Here's the trailer I was refering to: CLICK HERE
Again, keep in mind.. this trailer is just an example.

I didn't consider the music u sent deep, it was loud I think, I can't even remember the music now. but that isn't why I didn't put in your section

the song was redone by a band named pandamonia, they bought the rights to remake it

I like the trailer you showed me, I have some stuff like that coming out soon. the next hgc dvd will be totally different, improved dramatically.

your footage could be used differently. did u see how I used the short bus drive thru skit at the beginning of a trailer with no music, then it cuts to a montage of clips with music...

thats how footage like yours can be used.

but then in the dvd, your section would just be unique

Hmm it dragged on a bit too long for my liking. I can see how it was meant to be an artistic edit, but I don't think it really works well with this kind of footage. Just as Mr.Safety said, I don't think that this is a video you should use for promotional purposes. It doesn't "sell" IMO.

I just skimmed fast through your thread-opener, so I don't know if you already told this, but who edited the video? Surely not anyone you pay money to? Not trying to sound like an ass, but the edit was a little boring to say the least.
I just think that HGC deserves more.. No offense intended
