the editing could have been done differently. I like the no-editing for this kind of video. in

yes you like the no effect style of editing....buy does the watchers and buyers? (over all respons = NO) isnt that the key to a succsesfull production? what people/buyers want? or do I not know what im talking about because I dont have any DVDs under my belt yet?

And it doesnt even need that lot effects really  Even normal editing would ahve saved hgc Image file not present in the recovered backup

what wasn't normal about the editing?

explain

It isnt about what wasnt normal about editing, its about where was the editing.

what vode the inbred child is saying is it was roughly cut to music, nothing was edited or made something, it had less editing of a homevideo show, the effects used was pointless and in no way was used at the right times or for any reason.

And first thing that editor should know is where to start a cut and where to end it. Not like start it in middle of the stunt and end it two minutes after (thats roughly exattered, but I mean come on, wathc the TPM part).

QFT.

Considering that the editing was the major downfall of the DVD.

If it had been edited professionally - and by that I don't mean "done by a professional" as you claim, I mean, done by someone who's actually taken the time to think about the editing and cares about the footage - then the HGC would have been pretty good.

Editing makes a shit video watchable and a good video amazing.

OK: Finally got around to watching this tonight.

Let me start by saying the content was awesome. There was so much good footage in this dvd that I think I makes up for a lot of short comings.

TPM section was maybe the wrong choice to start with. I found it lacked a lot of energy and was way too drawn out. Im really suprised these guys havent ended up in the burns unit yet. While it was pretty funny to watch, you can only see so much "lets set ourselves on fire and see how long until it hurts" stunts. Buckwild was actually pretty funny though, props to him for carrying most of the section along.

Asstreme section was pretty good overall, while it had the same old fire stunts it really mixed it up well with the skating bails. The energy was pretty good through this section and the music wasnt bad either. It was good to see some decent stunts in this section.

Ghost monkeys of chaos wasnt bad either. Where are these guys from? It looks a bit like Aus but never heard of them. The skating was a good way to break this video up. Some of the stunts where a bit weak through this section and I dont really know why they were used but overall it kept the energy up.

Muppets: Fuck this was a good section. Had a bit of everything. Thought the original stunts were fucking awesome, the DVD lacked original stunts overall so I was really pleased to see some in here. The interviews was a good way to break up the "music video" style it had been previously. I fucking laughed my ass off seeing that dude get burned in the face then running away. It was actually the first time I laughed while watching. Props to the Muppets.

Arsemarks: haha, that stunt on the clothes line was a funny way to open. That clip of that guy in the video store was fucking classic as well. Had some great stunts in it overall and good energy. Well done! PS: What the fuck is with that jacket you wear Rico.? haha

Who gives a shit: hahaha fuck, what an aweome suprise in this dvd. That brownie prank was fucking awesome and was probably the most I laughed in this dvd. Throwing the cup in the shopping mall was fucking funny as well. Overall I probably enjoyed this section the most because it was pretty entertaining and was original. Great stunts, great pranks. A really good mix of everything.

DVLD: haha, pretty funny again. Nice pranks. These guys are pretty core. Didnt mind them at all. Pretty funny bunch of guys and it really shone through. Dont know what that claim was about saying it was the most grossest footage ever filmed though. Who wrote that? Was it them or moody?

Shortbus had some good moments. Not bad. Good pranks with people giving intros is always a good way to break things up.

DanG: haha, what can I say dude, you're a fucking classic. You carry the weight of the last section by yourself and do it well. You've got a great on camera presence and have balls the size of grapefruits. Nice job man, you fuckng rock. Nuff said..

In saying all that, and breaking down the footage, I can now get down to business about the production as a whole.

Moody, you've pretty much taken some of the best footage going around the HG scene at the moment and totally fucking ruined it dude. The editing was so shit I cannot even describe it. It was like it was done in movie maker, had no creative direction and pretty much single handedly ruined this dvd. The production qualities were so poor it reminded me of some shitty skate vid you'd buy in a surf shop in the late 80's. This whole thing felt rushed and it basically just seemed like not much effort went into it.

You say you were "the director" but it doesnt look like you did much directing at all. I cannot beleive how much vomitting you allowed to get in this thing dude. The odd good chunder is fucking hilarious, and Im sure every single group in the world has an awesome scene of someone chucking, but for you to allow every single scene of every group vommiting to go in this instead of selecting the best ones and just showing that pretty much sums up your ability as a producer. Absolute shit effort mate. The same goes for all the fire stunts. Way too much in this dvd.

I can pretty much say that in seeing this, you got given so much great footage it you had a lot of opportunity to make this into something special but you didnt. You were lazy with the editing, lazy with the creative implementation and lazy with the production values. This was proved in the credits where you more or less didnt have anyone in it apart from the groups or music. Beleive it or not, you cant do everything by yourself and to make a decent production you need many people all working as a team to create the best possible outcome. All you had was yourself and you have proved to not understand the production process nor the homegrown scene in general.

Ill finish up by saying, groups,... Awesome job, your content was awesome, and coming from a hg group I know how hard you've all worked to build it all up.

Moody: You fucked up bro. Pay up and get the fuck out of the HG scene.

just got back into town from arizona. I was out there shooting the last shot for 'the fight game' documentary. im exhausted but im finally back in L.A.

I've said that the editing could have been better and different but with this first homegrown release I wasn't sure what the casual viewer would enjoy (casual viewers are the people that decide yes or no if they will buy the dvd) and for casual viewers, I felt they would want the footage presented to them in a manner that wouldn't take away from the visual of a stunt. Hardcore fans of stunts and pranks will either buy the dvd or they are the kind of person without money that will just watch stunt clips on youtube until the sun comes up every morning.

In the past I've asked you guys what effects you would want used, etc... but notobdy really came up with suggestions, and webby, your part had the same effects the other parts had, black and white into color, flashing and quick frame edits. Those are the only kind of effects I really saw in your section that I can remember.

The finished production f this DVD wasn't made to win best homegrown forum dvd of the year award, it was made to appeal to viewers and even though you guys want effects, I still stand strong by my opinion that the footage is too strong in content to use effects because it will take away from the footage. Everybody I've shown the DVD too really enjoy it and it always brings out emotion in people when they watch it, shock, laughing, disbelief, disgust and that is really what I wanted to achieve.

So in my book the DVD passed the test. The next HG DVDs will have some group sections with more effects but that is up to the individual group on what style they want their section to be.

If groups want to posssibly edit their own section, they need to contact me and work out the music situation, then I have to review your edit. If there's 1 rule break, you have to fix it or I can't use it. Rules are, you can only use my music (I have tons of music now), no talking shit about me like webby tried to do (even if you are joking), and no nudity. The last rule is that you must blur out all trademarks and store names shown in the video.

So this might be the last chance for many groups to submit footage. My editor is starting up on the production very soon. Within the next 2 weeks.

Hey Moody. Worked out the group profits yet?

You all ready for your big check mailing day in a couple of weeks?

What a coincedence that Moody has the next deadline for footage almost the exact same time that he's supposed to send the money out. That way, he can scam all the footage he can now, and if he fucks up paying the groups its too late to get your footage back you sent for the 2nd one because he'll already have it all!
