David Blaines next stunt

"NEW YORK (AFP) - Having starved himself and been frozen in ice, US magician David Blaine now plans to spend seven days submerged in a water-filled container in New York.

The latest stunt by the renowned illusionist will seem him enter an eight-foot (2.5-meter) high acrylic sphere on May 1 and remain submerged for a week.

A mask and air line will keep him alive, while food will be provided in the form of liquid nutrition through a tube.

At the end of the seven days, Blaine, 33, will remove his air supply and attempt to hold his breath longer than the current world record of eight minutes and 58 seconds, before finally climbing out of the human aquarium.

During the stunt, fans will be encouraged to touch the sphere and offer words of support, Blaine spokesman Pat Smith told AFP.

The magician will be hoping for a better public reaction than he received for his last major "performance" -- a 44-day fast during which he was suspended above London's River Thames in a glass box.

Detractors came up with increasingly inventive ways to taunt or unsettle Blaine such as using a remote-control model helicopter to dangle a cheeseburger in front of the starving magician.

Others drove golf balls off Tower Bridge, threw eggs, used a home-made catapult to shoot paint bombs at the box, banged drums to keep him awake at night or merely shouted abuse.

Smith insisted there would be no similar scenes at New York's Lincoln Center.

"This is his home town. Anytime he's done anything in New York, the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive," Smith said. "New Yorkers are cool about this kind of thing."

Previous stunts have included being encased in ice for nearly 62 hours and spending 35 hours on a 100-foot (30-meter) high pillar that was only 22 inches (56 centimeters) wide."

Oh I forgot to add.

Being frozen in ice is biologically impossible. When a living organism is frozen the icicles that are caused by freezing are actually sharp and pierce, thus killing vital cells. Without or with degraded vital cells, such as haemaglobin, brain cells etc one cannot live.

Proving, if David Blane did pull that "stunt", it's a fake.

Maybe thats fake, but the other stuff, like the thing in London, its not.

Thing that made me lose interest with David Blaine, was that after he'd done the glass box stunt he dissapeared out of the public eye for ages. Do not forget however, David Blane is an illusionist not a stunt man. There could've very well been another side to that box, and with clever use of mirrors he could've easily had a double in there part time.

I hate how when hes explaining the stunt hes gonna do he sounds so calm and never excited. Like if he doesnt think its gonna be rad then why should we care? AND! His voice just drones on and on. *sigh* I have so much hate.

Well I saw in some show, a ilusionist doing the ice thing that Blane did.

It looked easy as fuck, it was a game with the cams inside the ice and some double impersonating the magician, when it was getting colder inside . But they have masks and shit, and blane didnt have.

Yeah there was a documentary showing how he did the ice thing...like how when they sprayed it with that gas stuff it was just to obscure the ice block so he could go through a trapdoor and get food and warmth and stuff.

I just don't care about David Blaine anymore. It was cool five years ago but he's just boring now.

I watched him when he was frozen in the ice. still might watch this one just because I'd like to see him break the record.

did any of you guys ever see the david copperfield special where he debuted his flying act. he flew off the stage and out the building to end the show. quite amazing.

I walked by chris angel in vegas a couple months ago and I was so tempted to ask him to make me float but you could tell he didn't want to be bothered.

anyone could do this, he is fed through a tube, and given air, all he is doing is standing in a sphere, underwater, with all normal 'out of water' shit provided.
