My Review (sorry for the length)
I’ve just finished watching the HGC Collection now, well about 30mins ago and I really enjoyed it.
I’m going too break them down into the sections, for each group and whatnot and also give them each a rating out of ten.
Remember, these are based on what I thought soooo...
The DVD Menu (8.50)
I didn’t exactly buy the DVD, just for the menu, but I thought it could have been better. IMO, the only problem was the colour effect over the video playing the background, underneath the menu’s text, especially the blue colour; I couldn’t really see what was going on when it was blue.
It is a pretty cool menu, but it just doesn’t seem matched up too me, every part is different, which is fine, it doesn’t have too be all matching, but each part didn’t really fit together.. But, as I said, I didn’t buy the DVD just for the menu so it’s hardly a disappointment.
The Intro (7.0)
I was really excited when I first opened the DVD and shoved it in my DVD player, but, I kinda lost all that excitement as the intro went on.
I thought the titles of each group lasted too long, the editing was nothing special at all, it did flow a little.
I thought it should/could, of been faster, like more hard hitting, maybe even spoil a bit of the DVD by showing a lot more of the “hardcore” stunts, so the DVD looks action packed. But, it’s not like the intro was bad, it was badass! I couldn’t wait too get into it, I just thought that it moved kinda slow, maybe I was too excited and it didn’t meet my expectations (at the time) but cool intro, it gave an original feel too the DVD too.
Trailer Park Mafia (6.50)
Well, the main reason they got a 6.5 is because I’m not really into most of their stunts and sometimes the camera is shaking like mad so it was heard too keep watching for me.
Although the content was ace, it was just kinda edited at a slow pace and it didn’t exactly pull me into the DVD… I lost even more interest, but of course I watched it all and enjoyed the stunts, some are pretty crazy and others are like nothing I would have expected.
I have nothing against TPM, but, their section wasn’t exactly the “motivator” but it would of been better if this was in the middle and another section kicked the DVD off.
I’m sure everyone can enjoy it though, especially if you’re in a relaxed mood and TPM’s “mood” has always been relaxed, the section really fitted too their style, which is quite noticeable and because of that^, it gets a 6.50.
Asstreme (7.50)
This section was dedicated too Dream Vasya, so it was quite emotional at the start and really kicked in straight away.
It would have got a higher score, but, I’ve seen most of that footage before, maybe they didn’t use all the footage, I don’t know but I was kinda disappointed about that.
But with that out of the way it was a sweet section, for someone who has never seen any Asstreme stuff before... they will be in for a treat, this section was nothing like TPM’s, which is good, as everything seems different and more original.
It was quite a hard-hitting section really, all good content and it flowed nicely, as I said… it’s an emotional section, dedicated to a friend, so it was like they have filmed all of this, just for him, which is pretty sweet. R.I.P.
Ghost Monkeys of Chaos (9.40)
WOW, prolly my favourite overall section in the entire DVD, the whole section flows really well, the Hip-Hop track gives a cool feel too it.
I really loved this section, it was jammed pack with skateboards kicking peoples asses!..haha.. Seriously some of the bails are sweet and hilarious, also the skating itself is great, also considering their age 14-16?? I’m 15 and I could never see myself doing half the shit they can on their boards.
You DON’T have to even like skating too enjoy this section.
Also, there’s a lot of randomness in their too, which is pretty lol. Skating isn’t exactly my thing, I love watching it though, although, I, myself, would of liked too of seen some stunts really, but this wasn’t a disappointment at all, there’s still loads of other sections for that, but the GMC section is totally different from any of the others. You'll love it if you love skating.
A sweet overall section, with some sweet content and a laid back style throughout, I’m sure everybody will enjoy this one.
Muppets (9.20)
Considering the content that was used in this section, plus the editing and whatnot, it definitely deserves a 9.20!
I loved this section, although I’ve seen some of the footage before, it felt new, overall a nicely laid out section, from beginning too end.
It was also like a little documentary which gave the section a nice feel too it, sweet content, overall awesomeness.
But this section can seem awesome too one person and pretty poo too another, it all comes down too what type of stunts you like really.
Muppets, the group itself has a pretty pro feel too them, IMO, just the angles and stuff are all really great and make the stunt just that bit more, better.
You will either like this section or not, but you I’m sure everyone will admit it’s a nicely "done" section.
Arse Marks (8.50)
Surprised me actually, I own Arse Marks 10 and 11, and more or less all of the content seemed new!
This one is totally different as well, some cool explosions and some ace jumps also; I think everyone will at least enjoy this section. Every stunt is above average I’d say, then all of a sudden it jumps back out at you, with another sweet stunt, like the bike into river one… this was pretty damn fucking nice, I don’t want too ruin anything really, don’t expect some hardcore crazy shit, but you can look forward too this section, I guess it just suited me.
I’m gonna skip DVLH, Short Bus and Who Gives a Shit as of now, but these sections where pretty tight though, look forward too these, some sweet pranks and lots of other good stuff.
Dan G (8.50)
Actually, after watching the above 3 groups' sections^ I was kinda thinking that those groups had “taken over” HGF. Then I saw DanG’s name and my face went from *worried* too Image file not present in the recovered backup Just glad we had Dan representin'!
It would have gotten a higher score, but I’m just not into the self inflicted stuff, but that’s just me, I do enjoy watching it though.
This section is pretty funny, DanG is quite hilarious and some of the stunts are crazy.
Rest assure that this section will please you, haha.
Near enough all the stunts are self inflicted, but, there’s tons of variety, which is really good, WITHOUT all these different, crazy, and original stunts by Dan; it would have gotten a lower score IMO. It’s kinda weird watching someone beat themselves up and watch them in pain, but it’s really enjoyable! sweet section.
Extreme Harma (5.00)
Well, I know they where in the bonus section but how much footage did you guys send in?
It’s a shame on Extreme Harma really, well IMO I’ve seen some stuff on their site which could have easily made it into their section, but it wasn’t a loss, they got in and it was a nice little section, good work.
Overall I’d say the DVD was let down by the editing, each section was exactly the same, in terms of editing, no matter how fast or slow it was edited it just looked all the same.
Although, there wasn’t like any stupid effects which are just there too synch with the audio, apart from one. So, the editing isn’t exactly a let down, it flowed alright overall at least it wasn’t really boring but I expected a lot more from it.
Well, sorry for the length, but I hope everyone enjoyed reading it, especially the groups who are actually involved! thanks.
