I had a thought... scary as that sounds.

It seems that often some of the more established groups do the best performance and usually end up winning the various contests, or whatever.

I was thinking of opening something up for groups that met some criteria, like 'formed within the last 6 months' or that are nominated as 'new groups' by people on here. And then setting up some sort of hardcore contest, and then the winner gets the experience of putting something quality together and then some $, to support the group.

Not saying this is a great, or bad idea, but wanted to try to see what you guys think?

Thing is mate, most new groups on here are duplicates of older groups. But it aint a bad idea. I am sure something could be arranged.

yeah, good point. I did not think about that. If there's a way around it, where re-vamped groups would not be included or something, I'd be interested to work on getting something together.

I would be more than happy to stick the winning group on the main page of hgv (where the "get your videos known" bit is)

That would be cool. I mean, if we can find groups, the new group that is actually good would get exposure by being on the page, having people see their video and voting for it, and some $ to support themselves. Only problem is, is finding "new" groups and seeing if they're/everyone else would be interested. Running to work now, will check when I get home to see if people are interested, and figure out the best way to kick it off.

I like this idea. Getting more exposure for new groups is awesome. And it'll also teach them/us as well how to do their videos good and websites and stuff.

Technically The Hunt offers this sort of thing as most of the "better" groups don't join.

we're new to the homegrown site and our only problem is that the boys are lazy and when we film it just gets archived, it'd be hard to get shit online but we have an editing program and whatever so as long as I can get them to do it and be ok with it then it would easy as long as we can get some help on getting out stuff on the site.

A.) We haven;t even been on the forums for a year.

B.) I would only consider the 3 DVDs we made to be considered "HG" The other videos we made were stupid ones for me and my freinds. I dare you to watch Arse Marks 1

Well, it seems that there are enough newer groups out there to compete, and people have ideas about the contest. I am not the best one though to verify the newness of groups to compete or not to compete. If one of the mods could voulnteer time to verify/pick the groups, this is what I was thinking.

Would get 3 judges, to judge/develop 5 categories.
Having 10 (or less, depending on the number of new teams out there) teams.
Having 5 tasks categories. Each category you could get 1, 2 or 3 points, depending on outcome
1) Jumps
2) Gross
3) Public humiliation
4) Pain
5) Skating

Or something I have no idea for the 5, the above are just ideas/suggestions. Then under the 5, coming up with 2 possible tasks under the 5. Like for jumping would be Either do some sort of bush jump or jump from a building of whatever height.

So teams would pick one from each of the 5. Get points for each of the 5. Group with the most points would win.

After reading this it seems sort of cool, but complicated. Anyways, I am open. I think its a good idea if I could get the aid of someone to pick the teams to compete, then me, this person and another person would judge, and then open up the contest with list of categories/tasks.
