HGF Pet Peeves

Just like Durans thread, only instead of videos, this is about HGF. What things about this place get on your nerves?

What I find most annoying is the lack of intelligent discussion. I know that might sound funny coming from me, but it's true. I enjoy serious and intellectual conversation...mainly reguarding feature films or law. But yeah...politics, racism, current events...as long as I'm familiar with the subject...I enjoy having chats with knowledgeable and informative people.

Most people prefer to load their posts with sarcasm, but I appreciate that Gman, Nuggeto, Rob DR, Dgodlewski and some others frequently exercise their maturity.

I know exactly what you mean right now. I feel the same way at times when your trying to get serious feed back and all you get is immature fucks who spam the thread with nothing but sarcasm.

lack of video realeases

I'll throw in with that.

Specifically, when someone posts a video release thread, and people go in just to shit on the video. There are so few video releases anymore, so when someone does release a video, and all they get is negative, non-constructive pissing contests, it's very aggravating.

Too many replies are made on these forums for the purpose of defending one's own ego, rather than contributing to the discourse.

And how when you recieve a PM you have to look at it to get rid of that red screen at the top.

1. id like to see more experimenting with videos. I see so much more room for homegrown like documentrys, music vids, shorts, animation, whatever just on a homemade scale, I see homegrown more as a style or a technique then a genre.

2. not enough focus on making vids. I can understand its hard coming up with ideas, or not enough free time but but a 3 min vid a month isnt that hard.

People prefer being kind to being honest when reviewing videos (I know I've done that a lot too)

Some people can't take negative critique. They just get mad if someone says something negative about their video

When a respected group that has a history of releasing quality vids, suddenly release a bad clip, people just tend to suck up rather than telling the truth about the video.

People who think too much of themselves and their group.
Even if some groups are better than others, there's no need to act superior to someone who's group is not that good.

People who start discussing about something pointless in a thread, filling up a whole page with their mumbo jumbo when they could do that on msn or aim or whatever, even in person..

..the gay-jokes are getting a little old and overused too.

Yeah in the near future, after the despro dvd is finished, we will be starting on a documentary type film, should be interesting to make and watch.

I haven't really been digging the topics as of late, they're just kinda lame.

and I hate when people who have only been here like a month, and join in on all the inside jokes like they've been here for a year or more. just really bugs me.

The majority of new members who weren't here back in the founding days of HGF. They just irritate me so bad. There's so many people I wanna ban.

I guess its mainly the dumb conversation and arguments that annoys me. It never used to be like this.

edit: Shit, how could I forget. The thing that pisses me off the most is people who can't spell/punctuate/form a decent sentence or who just type shit for the sake of it. People who post absolute shit and spam...Members who joined like 4 months ago and have 3000 posts or something ridiculous.

It's not hard to check what you write before you post it.

I wishe they'd do a movie about HGF sometime in the future. Like a sad, based-on-a-true-story kinda movie. Heck, I don't know, it could be a comedy as well.. Just as long as they make a Hollywood movie of a underground cult that affected so many youngsters in the mid 00's

That really would be an awesome movie.

Showing different kids from different areas of the world each with different influences and making homegrown videos.

I dont like new members who really post loads and loads of people who start shit for no reason, I like it when people are honest. I'd rather people tell me that my video was bad and why it was bad, than just lieing, saying nothing at all or just saying a video was rubbish

I concur, I can't stand it when people can't be bothered to take 10 seconds of there time (lets face it, they can't take that long to read) to check that they've actually made a coherant sentence, I could name names, but I dont want Nicco having a squinny

Another thing that annoys me is people who have nothing but arrogance and sarcasm on their side, they think that it's necessary to flame the shit out of new groups just becasue they've not been making videos as long as them, there's no need for it.

Another is how some members who have relatively new teams, or even worse no team at all, that have the fucking cheek to flame others videos when they either don't produce anything themselves, so have no idea what their talking about or even if they do have a team the videos that they do produce are of such a horrible quality that they dont deserve the right of flaming others.

I think it's okay to give criticism of what you think of a group, I don't have a group but if a video is shit, you can say it's shit, so long as you say why.

I know that I havnt been here long and I havnt posted any videos yet but thats going to change once I get a cam...so as of yet all ive really been able to do is comment on other peoples stuff...
but back on topic...only thing that annoys me about this place is all the un-necessary flaming and the people who join just for the pr0n
